Aye, I have thought the same. Was a left back Burrows at Peterborough that apparently wanted to come, kinda thought he'd have been 1 of 1st signings in the door this summer

My concern about waiting for the better quality if that's what we are actually doing, is if it goes * up far down the line with not much time to look elsewhere.

To not have an outfield player in by now is a bit mental. Bernardo seems close but again that's not really enhancing us from last season. I'd have thought we could get a quicker indication from players as to their genuine interest. Its great to try and get that quality in and I know we need to do it but I fear it'll be the usual excuse used again.

Don't really know what else to say now. Everything has already been done to death. Would hope that Rodgers can provide some clarity soon on where we are at but doubt that'll happen.

We have such a big chance here going into this season to get ahead mentally or the Huns as well with some good, big money (in relative terms) signings. Its gonna be scales, Taylor and forrest starting again against Killie though. The squad is in a fair mess still.

The worry is looking across the city at the absolute mess the huns are in and our board will think we have enough to win the league, they are probably right. Us as fans want players that will challenge or at least compete in Europe which unfortunately in my opinion the board dont really care about. Europe is a bonus.

How much will BR rock the boat if he doesn’t get quality? He's on a handy salary.

I still think we will get some decent signings, they can't * it like the last couple of windows, can they?

You wouldn't like to think so but they release. Statement saying the know hoarding cash doesn't make sense but since that statement...

We are in a net profit of £10m in terms of cash from trading.

Window going as expected. As I said previously, after the shambles of the last two windows, I wouldn’t rule anything out this time.

    Exactly Lewis, * exactly.

If we had been doing the work during the months of september-december, then signings would have been made in January - ala Ange and his trio to sign before the window even opened.

If we only started doing the work (which is the running joke we don't do much unless in a window), then whoever those targets where, that their clubs didn't want to sell in January, why wasn't those deals continued and lined up to be completed for this window opening?

    It's just excuses after excuses.

It's gonna take a mass planned action to make a dent.

By no means do I consider fan media or groups to be remotely above any other fan, but in the modern era, it perhaps may take something like the GB, ACSOM and a few other groups and fan media to collectively come together as one voice against the board.
A collective voice is likely to have their viewers/supporters side with them all and then perhaps we will see an impact.

Can agree a 5m buy option then spend all of next summer negotiating that down to 3m and at no point acknowledging what his current wages are.
    Sounds about right.

Or we could negotiate a fee, the player excels here and we pay it straight away. You know, like we did with Jota.

Now 343 pages of a thread with 1mil spent. Absolutely criminal.

Like others have said its not gonna change as people eager to take your place.

It's sad to see what our club has become. We have bags of potential as well.

1pt better than the huns is all the board care about and some fans agree which doesn't help things.

Thought by now that We would have had at least 4 signings in door with the two GKs, CB and LB all in place and signings of Idah, Bernardo to follow but We are nowhere near it, at this rate can see Lagerbielke getting a run out to save buying another CB.

Who was it in the media that said celtic take so long to get stuff done as they only negotiate 1 deal at a time? Was it McGowan

I've said before but we REALLY need to get away from the myth we are holding out for quality.

Sutton and Hartson were known quality signings and these days would be 30-40mil players. And well out of our reach.

Huns are signing rock bottom question marks which is lowest you can go while spending money. We have been on the project track with the Asian boys but we knew a bit with Anges connections.

Where we should be shopping is 5-10mil range which should be seen as a step up from project but is certainly not seen as proven quality.

I understand the transfer market values make it harder for us but not as hard as we make it for ourselves.

If Matt O'Riley goes, there's no way we won't make a net profit on player trading this window once again. I know that last summer we also made a net profit on player trading and I think we also did so the January before that. So the only time we had a positive net spend recently was January 2024, where we spent a whole £230,000 more than we took in as far as I can tell (and no, I didn't miss a zero there).

That's not a bad thing in and of itself; but it is a bad thing if (as is definitely the case here) the quality of the first team falls quite dramatically over the same period. We can all name several positions that are currently definitely weaker than December 2022 and not a single one that is stronger.

I don't think the number of pages on a Talk Celtic thread has any influence on how much Celtic should spend on transfers. How much should we have spent by 343 pages 10m and if we get to 1000 pages 30m. Let me know so I can get incrementally raging as the pages increase. Just making up new ways to moan about the same thing. Get outside once in a while

In my opinion, the last three windows were a shambles, not two. Potentially, this could possibly be the fourth shambolic window in a row if we don't pull it out of the fire in the next few weeks.

It's absolutely chronic. He's on nearly every thread spouting the same pish.
