Aye there’s no excuse not to have a LB in. We’ve only had one for the last 6 months.

I'm not even trying to be flippant here when I say this mate, but why Christ are you asking me that question?

I'm hoping we have at least one new player announced this week, even if it's Bernardo.

You're pretty telling me to calm down as the window is open and we have time. We've already had 6-12 months notice on our positions of great need so why do we till the last minute to get them?

I've said this before but we got the party line after Jan window of well we had players who wanted to come but their clubs said no due to it being January.

The obvious question is where are these players now? Did we decide we didn't actually want them? OR were we spun a line and being treated like idiots?

I never told you to "calm down" - but as you say the transfer window IS still open. So lets at least wait till it's closed before we go postal.

I'd love for us to be fully prepared with recruits in sooner rather than later, but I'll hold off with the panic for now...

Fair play mate and genuinely I wish I could share your outlook on this. Unfortunately this current regime have done very little historically to fill me with any confidence

What else can I do? I've been raging before, makes zero difference.

I can only put my trust in the manager - he's earned it after bringing home the bacon last season.

I'm happy with the moves they've made in a key position already - GK.

Few weeks now until the start of the season for us to at least get a couple in, then still got the remainder of the window.

To be fair, we normally do.
But then the happy clappers (not yourself sir), tell us the old lines the board chop out. Then tell us to wait til January, we are working hard. We never are.

Enough fans have had enough now. seen these windows play out plenty of times. It's the same old same old.

In the Summer of 2022 we signed Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal on the 10th of June after a successful loan spell. Less than a month later, we signed Jota permanently on the 1st of July.

Here we are 2 years later - it's the 21st of July and we still haven't got the deals done for Bernardo or Idah.

    The Lawwell effect.

It’s funny how we think. O’Riley played and scored for us this morning but we all expect him to leave. Idah played for Norwich and Bernardo still training with Benfica and we’ve all got the fear.

Big difference is, we are made to believe those two are done deals in theory. Mor has t even had bid accepted yet.

Which only adds to the confusion and frustration that they may very well not be remotely as close done as some play it.

Id give Anderson a shot at left back. I don't think the club have any appetite to buy anyone to overtake Taylor. We need a quality CB, midfielder, striker and winger though.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed is determined to bolster Celtic’s attack with TWO new strikers, writes Michael Gannon in the USA.

The Hoops boss is hoping to bring loan star Adam Idah back to Parkhead despite Norwich City playing hardball over the hitman. But Rodgers admitted he’ll need another frontman to add to the squad after the departures of Oh Hyeon-gyu and Rocco Vata. He said: ““I think my ideal scenario was to have three, was to have Kyogo, one other one and bring through a young player

That was the role we came up for at Rocco. It’s very difficult for a club of this size to have three number one strikers. You can live with two because we play so many games and the specific nature of the games then we can change it about. Three is very difficult. But I also think for development I want to bring some young, maybe a player from within

Rocco was that but he’s moved on. So we may have to look elsewhere. But three is a really good number. Two, I would say to be number one strikers, and one that we can nurture and develop

Rodgers is chasing a number of targets and has been linked with moves for Venezia midfielder Tanner Tessmann and Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

Celts are edging closer to bringing Paulo Bernardo in on a permanent deal from Benfica while keepers Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo have already checked in. Rodgers remained tight-lipped on transfer talk but said: “I’m really hopeful every day. We know we need to improve the squad.

But we know we need to improve the squad, we want to develop. But in the meantime, whilst we await that, you can see the players that are here are developing well, working well and they’re playing some fantastic football at this pre-season stage.”

Rodgers confirmed keeper Benji Siegrist is heading for the exit, with the former Dundee United no.1 on his way to Neil Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest. The Hoops gaffer said: “It’s fair to say that with Benji, he’ll be looking to move on. He’s been a really professional guy. His spirit, he’d done well at United and come into Celtic and maybe wanted to play more. When he didn’t, and I can only speak for my year with him, he was exemplary.

“His professionalism, everything about him was first class. And when I spoke last season, we thought that probably for him, in this part of his career, he needed to go and play. So I believe that will be the case and he will move on.”

Don't seem to have any appetite to give Taylor a new deal either which I'm hoping is a positive sign although I thought the same about Scales only to end up disappointed.

Ideal scenario, buy a good left back, keep Anderson as backup and punt Taylor

2 strikers!!! We canna even sign one ffs!!!

Interesting comments tho considering the links or the Belgian winger.

Cant see us running with 8 attackers in the squad for only 3 positions. Wonder if Palma is for the off.

I'm not counting Johnston or Yang bcoz they are pish and should be away regardless of what we do in the window.

We need 9 for the 3 positions. Allowing for injuries and suspensions plus the fact we will play around 60 games

Rodgers spoke towards end of last season about squad being far too big and wanting an ideal squad of 20 - 22 outfield players and 3 keepers.
If that's his aim I don't see him running with 8 or 9 attackers altho we definitely used at least 9 last year due to injuries.

For us we should have an outfield squad of 25 plus 3gk which is ideal for a club our size I think 20 - 22 given the injuries we get is too light in numbers

    3 GKs
    2 RB
    2 LB
    5 CB
    7 CM
    9 Attackers

6 for the three positions and then 3 younger players to develop.

As he said about striker, Idah and Kyogo are his main striker options and then s third from the youth (he sounds like he will buy a younger one now).
So think the same left and right wings.

Maeda and Palma - plus a younger lad
Forrest and Kuhn - plus a younger lad.

Carry that through to the midfield trio and it's McGregor, hatate, O'Rielly.
    Iwata, Holm/Lawal/Kelly*, Bernardo.

With one of those in the middle needing to show their worth this preseason, if not he will need to go and buy someone. This doesn't account for O'Rielly leaving yet.

Left back would be Someone, Taylor, Anderson.
Right half is Johnston, Ralston, someone

Centre backs are CCV, Scales, Welsh. Nawrocki, Lagerbeilke, Murray.

    Keeper is Kasper, Sinsalo, Clarke/Tobi.

CB is the obvious place we are very poor in when you break it down like this. Along with that desperate need for a left back.

LB, CB, CM(X2 potentially), St(X2 potentially), is probably where Rodgers ideally sits.
With the potential to always try and change and upgrade. So if he doesn't rate Palma and wants the Belgian lad, that's a bit of business he needs to sort out to get one in while getting one out.

Means our deadwood is obvious as well.
Yang, tilio, Kwon, McCarthy, Kobi, plus one or two of the CB named above for obvious dislikes.
