I try really hard not to judge friendlies but if his idea is to be a number 8 going forward he has a long way to go before being anywhere near our level.

He made a few bad decisions which is fine and can happen but in terms of basics as a midfielder I was shocked at how he was receiving it so square and his first touch.

“They can play in teams but not in our team” quote from Rodgers kept coming to mind.

He and Holm have opposite issues from what I have seen.

Looked very slow to react last night which isn’t a good sign. Next two friendlies will determine if he has a future here with us I reckon. Right now I think holm looks a level ahead of him and think Iwata was much better than him first half

First touch was dreadful, looked as if he was trying too hard, had more time than he realized.
Needs coaching bigtime if he is going to cut it.

Absolute pants he looked, looked very much like a CB playing in midfield.

I'd still like to see a bit more, but he needs a big improvement.

He wont cut it here, he was the same last pre season also. First touch is a tackle.

He's a player I don't think has what it takes to make it here, so I'd be looking to sell him after what was apparently a reasonable succesful loan deal for a reasonable fee, but tack on a hefty sell on in case he turns out better than expected.

I'd be willing to give him the rest of pre-season to impress, but if we're loaning him out again we need to sign him on for another year at least.

It’s genuinely * mental some of the takes that come out after like 25 minutes of a pre-season friendly.

Perfectly fine with people judging his performance but saying he won’t make it or needs sold is ridiculous.

Crazy. performed exceptionally well in a league we picked up O'Riley from. He might not make it here but writing him off during pre-season is genuinely crazy to me.

I still think he needs another loan next season but I would absolutely not be against handing him a new deal. Just to keep him tied to the club in case he goes down to the top end of League One or lower end of the Championship and kills it again.

I wasn't basing selling him on last nights game, it's from previous performances I've seen from him, and recent comments from the manager, that makes me think he doesn't have what it takes. We have limited loan options for players and I'm not sure he warrants one of the now 6 spots. He has at least some value in the transfer market currently based on his previous loan so I just think selling now is best for all parties, that's all.

He was brutal last night. So flat footed and his first touch was mince.

Not writing him off but unless he was injured, being taken off after 25 mins or so is not a good look after Rodgers’ comments.

Was the same with most youth, Vata was one as well. Didn't instantly come in to the side and scored 12 goals and assisted 8 times in 3 games, so deemed *.

When wasn't given a fair chance and decided to want to leave the club, was claimed poor attitude and greedy for cash.

As a fan base, generally speaking, we don't give the young guys a break.

Fleetwoods obviously his level. He's 21 so not really a youngster.
Needs to move on and get regular 1st team football as he's nowhere near Celtic level for me.

I'm not writing him off, but I think Rodgers could. He seems quite stubborn like that and Lawal stood out with how poor he was. Realistically Lawal needs to do well in these games or he's not getting a shot in the real season.

    This is his problem..

I haven't watched any of our pre season games so far but for boys like Lawal, this isn't just about getting up to match sharpness like the rest of our first team.....this is him trying to stake a claim as to why he shouldn't be loaned out this season..

He isn't the only one and games like last night are the perfect opportunity..

Yeah I'm not too worried about individual performances. More the whole and overall package of what he shows the manger in the preseason.

I'm not expecting him to come in and boss any of these games - I want him to work up to that as quickly as possible, but that will take X amount of time if he is to get to that level.

This is about showing that he could make that step up.
Like most younger and fringe players, fully expect them to have * games at times and not expecting the world.
