Slot would have came up against him last season in the Champions League with us.

    Not an impossibility

IIRC, they were scouting him before he signed for us.

    Not good enough for Liverpool

But he's good enough for one of the biggest clubs in Spain

If I'm honest, and I am probably doing Matt a disservice here. But I see players like Szoboszlai as a level above him. Liverpool are light in midfield though so maybe it's possible

As good a player as he is i'd be surprised if he landed a top 4 EPL club, as long as we get top dollar i'm not really bothered where he ends up if does go.

Would that be the same Van Dijk who was the linchpin of their Premier League success, results in Europe and got players of the year in both those areas too before getting injured? The one who's played something like 250 matches for them?

Can't remember the cost (it was definitely high) but in the Mickey Mouse Monopoly League it probably doesn't come anywhere near some of the other wasted money transfers...

I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick here.

@oh bhoy was making the point that Liverpool would have saved themself £60m+ by signing him from us rather than letting him go to Southampton first. He wasn’t at all suggesting Van Dijk had been a poor signing for Liverpool, far from it. In fact, he’s been absolute value for money; even at an inflated price.

I'm thinking the same thing for MOR, a club like Liverpool would give him serious consideration if he was already plying his trade in the EPL, even at a mid table or lower end club, in the mould of VVD at Southampton as you mention.

    I know I did

I find it mental that he's good enough to be linked to one of the biggest clubs in Spain

But he's no anywhere near good enough to play for liverpool

They broke the rules before going out of premier league they are talking about a points deduction
Like Everton or forest it’s the amount they are spending on wages that are getting them into trouble think they are at 90 percent of their turnover just on wages so majority of funds that come in to hand for players are board loans or bank loan that are paid back over the term of players contract this is frowned upon

Sorry, but he's got a long, long way to go before he's good enough for the Liverpool midfield in my opinion.

Nowhere near consistent enough mate. It's going over the top to think he's ready for that level at the moment.
