Who? Even if there was, there is no guarantee they would be a success.
Im not saying there is no risk in the Idah deal, theres no guarantee he would come back and pick up where he took off, but the risk is a lot less than an unknown entity in our league.

Ajeti should serve as an example at a £5m+ signing. He didnt care about the club and looked devoid of any kind of passion or desire. Idah wants to be at Celtic and he has shown he has what it takes.

 

This and the Bernardo situations are becoming an absolute farce.

Now two weeks until the season starts and neither of them signed when we want both, and want to come.

Beyond a joke.

 

But he’s already proven it here: he’s far more likely to be a success than a young guy from South America, who has really only shone in the Uruguayan League.

Idah has been playing in the Premiership and the high end of the Championship since he was 18.

You simply can’t compare them.

 

I respectfully don't agree, Idah has shown potential in SPL but is still 2nd choice behind Kyogo and was also been dropped from a championship team and still relies on previous so called 'potential'.
Now he's downed tools at Norwich, come back overweight and with a bad attitude (apparently).
As big Ange says, the person is more important than the player.

We should move on and be looking for an upgrade on Kyogo, not a reserve to him.

The quality of player is night and day and miles apart.

I know each season the markets get more and more *... bit in the global game, for anything between £7mill to £10mill, if Celtic with its financial position can't source a better player than Idah then the game is lost.

We certainly aren't no billion pound, state owned machine, but with the millions we have at our disposal, we shouldn't be lacking in scouting department to source better than Idah if Norwich continue to be * to deal with

 

Idah scored 16 goals last season, 7 in a * Norwich team and 9 for us. He played a big part in us winning the league and was one of the main reasons why we won the Scottish cup.

I think he can get better with us. He showed he had loads to his game and arguably suits Rodgers system far more than Kyogo. Does he need to work on some stuff? Of course he does, he needs polished up. How do you do that? Coach him to be better. We are literally sitting with one of the best coaches around at the minute. Imagine what he can get out of Idah with better players around him.

I mean, so what if he comes back slightly overweight in preseason. He didn’t look that bad to me when I was watching them. He looked great when he played for us, when it mattered. Artur Boruc used to come back and couldn’t get in the * double doors. He’s shown a willingness to move here, he wants the move. He’s not downed tools, he’s not handed in a transfer request. He’s not been unprofessional with Norwich. He’s been clear and open that he would like to continue his career with us if a deal can be struck. Literally don’t see anything wrong with that.

On the whole potential situation, I’m past that stage with him. It’s a word used to describe younger players who can get better. He’s 23. It’s not like he’s 19. I’ve had this same disagreement with regards to Bernardo. It’s not incredibly young by any stretch. I don’t think Idah can get better because of his potential or his development, I think he has all the attributes already. He just needs coached better and I believe Rodgers would get the very best out of him.

We also play in a dominant team, who play on the front foot, create a bundle of chances and dominate possession. He will also be playing with far more creative players than he was at Norwich. 9 goals and 2 assists in 16 games. It’s good going for a guy who wasn’t first choice.

 

We don't win the league nor the Scottish Cup without Idah.

I'm also surprised at people worrying about what we spend on him. Is there better out there? Probably, and this isn't a signing that should take the entire window, but caring about how much money we spend is what got us into trouble in previous windows. If we overpay we overpay.

I'm willing to be more patient with this one, alongside Bernardo.

I'd say in a week's time we'll start hearing rumours of other strikers if it's not moved any further. We won't leave it to the last day as we only have 1 striker with a dodgy shoulder.

 

Constantly seeing this narrative that Idah is coming here to be 2nd choice.

That's despite fact he's far more suited to Rodgers style of play and had a far superior goals/game and goals/mins to Kyogo last season.
Think the people claiming he's only gonna be backup will be suprised.

Do our board seriously think they will buckle the longer we leave it and accept our * offer or are we hoping the player forces their hand.

Perhaps mate but I find it strange that the 1st offer was widely reported and no news on a 2nd offer but as u say it may have happened.

Doesn't matter if manager wants a look or not. If we made a fair offer he'd be here. He's made it pretty clear to them he doesn't want to be there

Also for wither scenario uv offered to be true you have to ignore the near 20 years of lowballing and heel dragging over every deal Lawwell has ever done
