Sorry pal but in all honesty, he couldn’t trap a bag of cement.
I totally agree we need him for the Huns but outwith that he is more or less useless.

Nonsense. It wasn't a coincidence that our form was * when he was out after the Atletico game and then at the start of the year when he was at the Asia Cup

One of those guys when he got injured and was out for a good amount of games everyone was like why are we shiter, what’s missing and it’s him.

You know what’s something mad about analysis by stats or Luis Palma far more creative, far more a goal threat, also won the ball back in our final third more than any other player last season so effective work rate and defending as well from him. We’re better with the less creative, less goalscoring, less tackling up the final third successful player Maeda.

There’s some * in football that’s intangible, Maeda’s one of they players for me, I think his workrate makes guys around him work harder out of shame if he keeps doing what they’re doing. And he does that for a good 4/5 other players at times.

He must be exhausting to come up against. Honestly only guy I can compare to his engine still playing is Kante - obviously just his workrate though:56:

And Kante might be the hardest working player I’ve ever seen. Maeda for that specific thing is up there with the very best in the world, at the sheer application and ground covered. And that can be priceless.

Don’t get me wrong he can be frustrating particularly the crosses out the park and I do agree he isn’t great against parked bus defences but in Europe and in tough games he is normally one of our better players.

He certainly isn’t useless, at the end of last season he was pretty effective in most games he played for us. There are also far worse players than Maeda playing in top leagues. For a team fighting to stay up in them having a Maeda with his energy and pace would be a big plus for them.

It's bad that Ange had clearly picked up on this from reporters (and possibly fans) and had to spell things out to them. He picked people for their attributes that they brought to the TEAM and not the position and Maeda is clear evidence of that thought process. He clearly wasnt brought in to be judged on his goals/assists but what he brought to the team in terms of overall balance.

Too many people were still hung up on thinking in old terms that if you're playing wide left that you must be a winger in this example.

No exaggeration, he's in my top 3 of players on the team sheet of who must start regardless of opposition. As others have mentioned recently in this thread, it's no coincidence our form dropped massively when we lost him to injury this season.

Daizen was just a clash of knees and there’s no need to risk anything at this stage of the season. Hopefully he’ll be okay when we get back.”

Wouldn't worry about Daizen mind he suffered a season ending injury and was back a fortnight later

Daizen we just need to assess, he may not make it at the weekend, it was quite a nasty knee bruise that he had when he came off. We’ll give that till the last moment and see how he is

He said he will be back on the pitch next week. He was out for weeks with the Athletico injury so can't be that bad
