Per "A Bola", Bernardo is a done deal. £3.5m fee, £16k wages.

Meant to have had his medical yesterday and flying out to US tomorrow to join up with the squad.

Based on FIFA rules he would have been entitled to 2 weeks off post completing participation in a tournament. Denmark went out on the 29th of June which was a Saturday night. Say they were released on the Sunday from international duty. Two weeks would have took you to the start of this week.

I do find the Bernardo one a bit puzzling, as it varies between its done and still things to be agreed. Does sound imminent.

I genuinely don’t think the Idah deal is close and wouldn’t be surprised if there was a big gap between what they want for him and what we want to pay.

He was at the Euros, followed by being on holiday.

To be honest, it’s more baffling that we didn’t have Sinisalo in sooner. He could already have two games under his belt.

In general though, I agree with you. We’re so slow to act, everything always seems reactionary.

The Sinisalo/Schmeichel double deal is great but even if and when we get Idah and Bernardo over the line, all we’ll have done is improve our depth in the GK’s.

Hopefully see some business soon in other areas.

Weren't news outlets saying the medical for Scheimchel is today, or was it yesterday. Either way I think you see it announced tomorrow. They didn't give the new keeper the no 1 shirt, which tells me they knew another keeper was pretty much in the door.

I'd like to have more in by now but right now I'm just glad things are moving and I think we'll have the 4 you mentioned in for the start of the season and hopefully a couple more.

We are fine. Still early in the window. Sinisalo was announced yesterday. Kasper and Bernardo to follow soon. Not to mention, we got decent fees for Oh and Haksa. My biggest complaint is we don't seem to target McKenna. I think he's a no-brainer. But then again, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

Think both could have been done before the euros even started to be fair.

I get and appreciate he's been at the euros, didn't know actually that FIFA stipulate 2weeks for sure. Makes some sense, but again couldn't this have been confirmed before? If it's this close that he's doing a medical, then he must have been in talks during the two week break or the euros?
Either way, could have been done sooner I feel.

But back to the feel good if we can, the stories are positive this week, we do need them confirmed though.

Wouldn't be surprised if his agent is fishing for the best deals and some clubs they are talking to probably targeting better and then see him as a back up if they don't get their first choice. Think he joins a club in a couple of weeks. Also I can imagine he wants a bit of a break, let his body heal etc.

Random musings...so assuming that Bain, Seigrist and Josh Clarke have gone out with the team to the US...with Schmeichel and Sinisalo joining them. That would give us 5 goalies and with Oh moved on, only one striker for the US friendlies lol.

most players will be more focussed on their country than what the next club move would be. I'd be the same if I was in that position

It was reported Schmeicel wanted to deal with a new club after the Euros and just concentrate on that. Anderlecht looked like they could win the league until they lost the final 2 games, so he was busy concentrating on the league and then straight into the national team. Wouldn't be surprised if informal talks had taken place as it's started to speed up pretty quickly.

The problem is probably convincing a high quality one to come to us to play 10 CL games and sit on the bench the rest of the season.

Just to put it into perspective 3 weeks this coming Saturday our first league game.

we have 1 through the door.

you can come out with all the excuses under the sun but fact remains we have been utter * the last two windows and we have left it late the previous ones.

We never ever strengthen from a position of strength and that’s what needs to change.

Let’s hope the powers at be get what we need, cause we are much weaker than last season.

I think Schmeichel was quite vocal on wanting to focus solely on the Euros prior to sorting out his future. Of course, that doesn’t mean his agent wasn’t working on his future in the background.

We really need to push on with bringing in a centre back, left back and striker as priorities (on top of Bernardo). Hopefully a winger, defensive midfielder and other striker could then be added towards the end of the window (as well as an O’Reilly replacement if the seemingly inevitable happens). Theres positive signs this week, but so much work still to be done.

According to ACSOM, We had supposedly offered him a deal and He knocked it back due to wages, think its a no brainer too as He is a Scottish International and better than Scales but if it was going to happen it would have been done by now, something else must be going on behind the scenes.

A few places have reported he wants £40k or so a week because he is a free agent. What you might find is if he isn’t getting that somewhere else and we still need a CB that he signs for us.

You never know but it has only been us, them over the other side of the city loosely and Copenhagen linked with him that I have seen. You might find a Championship team offers that sort of deal when they move players on.

I genuinely cannot for the life of me understand how, given our constant transfer window failures, people still have their head in the sand over this.

We're disgracefully run for a club our size. And that won't change this summer either. We'll end the window with a few more in (including Bernardo, Schmeichel, and probably Idah). In reality we need about 8

Why would they sit on the bench the rest of the season? Seen people say that sort of thing before and it makes no sense.

Wanyama was a proper, high quality CDM and he started every match domestically for us.
