If we don't bring in a left back then it's a disgrace. The thought of going into champions league games with Taylor and Scales first 11 gives me the fear.

    This.

There's a lot of work needed still. Bernardo and Idah will be good to get on board but I'm finding it hard to be excited about them as it doesn't really alter our position much from last year.

Sure we are working on it though....I hope.

    Agree here.
Was thinking over the night about how this week's shaping up, it's all great we are getting the keeper situation sorted, assuming Kasper gets over the line.
But the real issue, aside from depth at left back, was the glaring lack of quality throughout the side.

When with all the good news of potentially getting 4 over the line, none of it remotely addresses the issue of quality or depth at left back.

Few names there will need shifted on for sure, but we desperately still need more quality in, regardless of who goes out.
Otherwise new season is much like last

For me, absolute non-negotiables (assuming Bernardo, Kasper and Idah sign) are LB, CB, Winger and CM. We absolutely without a shadow of a doubt need all 4 of those in. If we don’t, you’re looking at Taylor (with no cover), Scales starting, Forrest playing a lot of games and no O’Riley replacement.

So far we've signed what looks to be a backup keeper... I'm not going all negative yet but get the fooking finger oot and more importantly the biscuit tin

It's a missed opportunity to not have any outfield players signed for this trip to America but I'm sure Lawwell just sees it as a few extra plane tickets saved. So long as we get a few in before Kilmarnock or mid-August at the latest then I won't complain too much. A lot to be done in a short space if even that is to happen though.

Ok, GK nicely done and we've spent almost nothing.....:84:

Top drawer, straight into first team quality LB, DM, CB, Winger, Striker and MoR replacement next please
and double quick, thank you very much:BR1:

So if we sign Kasper S (£0), Bernardo (£3.5m) and Idah (£6.5m), Add Sinisalo (£1m). We will have spent £11m.

We have sold Oh, Vata, Haksabanovic and Giakoumakis netted us a sell on for a total of around £7m.

Since the last accounts we sold Ideguchi and Turnbull for about the same £3m we paid for Kuhn and sold Abada for about £8m. So at that point player trading would be a profit of £4m.

We then have O’Riley to be sold by the looks of it for £25m-ish so would take us to £29m profit.

In addition, post Euros there is a lot of talk that Frimpong will leave with Liverpool looking a real possibility which would net us close to £7m. Also this has to be done quickly because his release clause expires soon. So that would be £36m profit.

To complete sales Lagerbielke, M Johnston, Kwon and Kobayashi, could be sold for estimate sake £5m. So that would be £41m profit.

Now there is a lot to happen to realise the above position but it is very likely that we could end there or somewhere close to it. This also comes with the caveat of having at least the £67m in the bank that was there in January, likely more. We no doubt will still not get to spend all the transfer profit of £41m.

However, having spent £11m so far accounted into that £41m profit, spending another £20-25m should be the absolute minimum.

To improve as a minimum we would need:

    1. LB
    2. CB
    3. CM (O’Riley replacement)
    4. Winger

Personally there is more I would like to see done both out and in but being realistic. If we were to sign more it would be:

    5. Winger/ come striker from opposite side of winger above.
    6. Defensive centre midfielder
    7. A second centre back who was able to cover right back.

All while getting rid of Welsh or Nawrocki, Iwata and probably Yang. However that might need to be January or next summer.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we received attention for Hatate or A Johnston, but hopefully we manage to keep them given the volume of changes already needed.

the lack of rumours regarding a left back are extremely worrying. We cannot go into the season with Taylor as the first choice.

New starting-calibre DM? That's new. I would argue it may be our strongest /deepest position with McGregor, Iwata, Lawal (and Kwon).

Yeah but none of them are of the required quality and McGregor is better going forward.

Fine domestically but not in Europe.

We lucked out from January that Taylor wasn’t injured, * mental if we don't sign another left back before the beginning of the season.

Idah off to Belgium with Norwich, that deal ain't happening any time soon then.
Kasper still not over the line and Bernardo still in limbo.

So far we've signed Exeter's £1m rated keeper of last season.

All the parts together sound lovely, the reality can be seen as pretty poor.

If idah ain't happening, just move on Celtic.

The club "monitor" enough talent it seems, we must surely have a few striker options scouted that we can move on to now.

Kasper not in the door is baffling, isn't he a free agent? So what's that hold up?

Is it? Celtic need to get a move on but our neighbours next door are an utter shambles currently.

If you're solely referring to Europe then fair enough.
