Work in progress to give Gasperini a new midfielder. Atalanta continues to push for Matt O'Riley from Celtic and is preparing a third offer to be officially sent to the Scottish club in these hours

The second offer, around 15 million euros, was rejected by Celtic but Atalanta, as mentioned, is not giving up. Working to facilitate the operation between the two clubs is the intermediary Blash Hosseini.

The footballer has already said yes to the Nerazzurri
O'Riley (midfielder born in 2000) has already approved the possible transfer to Atalanta and already has a basic understanding with the Bergamo club for a long-term contract, most likely five years. The agreement between the two clubs now remains to be found, with Atalanta insisting on giving O'Riley away

I think Juventus are playing games with Atalanta here.

The third offer is unlikely to suddenly jump by £15m.

Can't see it being accepted. Unless it does exactly that.

Aye would seem Juventus may have got wind of the replacement and realised "hauld on here, why pay double for one guy, when this other lad can be brought in for half and developed up"

Specially if they are looking at Koopmeniers as a squad player rather than first team player. Would peak their ears to look at a cheaper option who could easily do the backup position while still developing anyway.

Which should be all good news for us - Atalanta need to be prepared to up their bid, or face Juventus switching attentions and coming in with an offer that suits both.

Credit to lawwell, I reckon he will make sure that's 20% of the next fee, not just the profit.
Meaning we get money even if he was sold for a loss.

Time we start demanding top dollar for our players.

Absolutely non-entities going for silly amounts in England. No reason why we shouldn't be demanding more.

So Inter Milan, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid and Juventus want him. Good news for us regarding the fee surely.

At least we’re not the only club that go in with low ball offers :giggle1: looks like Atalanta tried to get the jump on everyone else, see how many bids come in now.

Serious question, is that even a thing? I genuinely just assumed all sell-on clause were based on players developing post-move to higher values... Why would anyone agree to pay for someone twice?

It is a thing yes and it’s what Benfica had in place with us with Jota I’m sure. They sold us 70% of his commercial rights. Therefore they held 30% and if we sold him on for 1 million they would’ve received £300k of it.

Oh, ok, that old % of the rights chestnut. I was under the impression that FIFA banned that though. Remember the South Americans were tragic for it, and it caused mayhem. Think it was a Tevez transfer that flared it all up.

Genuinely have no idea for certain though, so I'll take your word on it mate! :50:

My initial thought was the same, but then I asked myself, if Juventus were playing games why would they bid up the price for O’Riley resulting in Atalanta needing more money for the Koopmeniers deal to cover costs? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I think there’s a genuine interest in MOR from Juventus.

I think they banned 3rd parties owning rights on players. The 30% of rights things is essentially just a 30% sell on fee.

I think it's more just the way the Portuguese word it to be fair, the "rights".

With the Tévez and mascharano thing, the south Americans actually held his contractual rights. So anyone who wanted to buy Tévez had to offer money to both Boca(?) and west ham at the time, both clubs would have to agree to the deal(s).

With benfica and what we have it's just poor wording from them for percentage of next transfer. You get that in two forms, either of all the next transfer fee (Jota deal) or just the profit.
