This is what I was hoping we'd do last season, a young up an coming keeper to be backup and competition for Hart. Which is why I am a tad sceptical about it happening this year. But it would be nice for a change to have some forward planning.

 

This is actually an extremely smart move. Might have been difficult to convince him to come and sir as a number 2 if it was behind anyone else, but I suspect they've seen the chance to use the situation to their advantage. Come in as number 2, work with your hero for a couple of years and be ready to light up your career.

I'd say the club have allowed Rodgers to take the lead and backed him with the resources he needs. I know it's trendy to bad mouth the club because of the failures we've had, but that's also ignoring the good work they've done which is unfair.

 

Celtic are set to confirm their signing of Viljami Sinisalo on a five-year deal this week.

The Finnish goalkeeper, 22, is poised to put pen to paper on a contract at Parkhead after the Hoops agreed a fee with Aston Villa. Football Scotland understands the Scottish champions will be around £1million for the stopper after negotiations took place over the weekend. Sinisalo is expected to complete his medical tests and be confirmed in the coming days as Brendan Rodgers locks in the signing before the USA trip.

The player has been capped three times by Finland and spent last term on loan at Exeter City in League One down south. The low fee agreed with Villa represents good value for the youngster who is highly rated with Celtic's transfer policy of buying low to sell high down the line.
