Agree completely, gronbaek is who I’d be going for. Scouting is always the most important aspect and that’s how we got Matt in the first place obviously, but I still can’t see the club going for a more proven player. We just love the low fee - chance of a good potential market

 

Celtic need to get this done pretty much today or tomorrow. Fans really need a boost here otherwise it will start to turn ugly. Regardless of people's opinion of Bernado and how much we should be paying he upgrades the squad as a whole and has done bits and pieces to show he can easily be a big player moving forward.

 

It's * embarrassing it's taken this long.

Manager wants him, he wants to come and his current club don't want him. It's literally an open goal and weve still been * about for a month over it.

We've had the excuses come from some on here trying to defend the board/recruitment team but it doesn't wash with me. I'm genuinely scunnered by it. It's no longer acceptable to be this long into the window and not have any business done.
Especially when it's blaringly obvious where the weaknesses are.

 

I don't have much faith. Like a few people have said earlier in the Bernardo and Idah forums. Don't let this drag out the whole window and it looks like it's going to doesn't it.

 

Gronbaek is close to signing for Rennes for €15m. Fee has been agreed it’s just agreeing player terms.

It's painful watching us drag out deals but if the board really do manage to ship out Oh for €5m and get Bernardo for £3.5m then that's seriously good business.

 

CELTIC have submitted a £3.5million offer to Benfica for midfielder Paulo Bernardo

Portuguese Bernardo, 22, spent last season on loan at Parkhead, scoring four goals in 33 appearances.


A £6m option to buy was built into the loan agreement. Keen to negotiate a lower price, the Scottish champions have begun formal negotiations with Benfica over a £3.5m deal plus add-ons and a sell-on percentage, and are hoping to conclude personal terms

 

Think I’d be more worried that we sell O’Riley for £25m and replace him with Bernardo for £3.5m. In isolation, I think £3.5m for Bernardo is a decent enough deal. I just worry where we see him in the squad moving forward. He’s not a first team starter for me.

Oh leaving for £4m and getting Idah in for £6m is great business, though. That’s where we need to turn out attentions to next.

 

£3.5m + add ons is a really good deal for us.

We need to * spend though.

£100m in the bank and we're looking to spend 3.5% of that.

You wanting them to just go and offer them £35m for Bernardo just for the sake of spending money?

 

Nope.

My point is that we've got all this cash in the bank and we're still looking to penny pinch. We're negotiating over a small amount in relative terms to what we have in the bank.

This could've and should've been done ages ago but we've dragged our heels. It won't matter this time (probably) but we'll miss out on someone this window because we're too slow or quibbling over a few pounds.

We should also be looking to spend big on another level of targets as well as low costing players like Bernardo. The board still view £3.5m as a substantial amount. It's not. Especially in today's market.

None of us know what's happening behind the scenes in terms of negotiations - which are to be expected from the majority of every deal.
