I'm happy with this! Still looked class at the euros actually said during the Denmark Germany game that I'd take him all day long over some of the names linked

Don't worry mate I won't argue on how inept our board are, inept is putting it mildly..

I also think people are reading too much into it, KS is a very good keeper and if we did miss our top target it gives is another year to find one(not that will probably make any difference)

Also lots of people saying KS is a short term fix for 2 years..

All our players are short term if they're any way good. If any players we sign preform brilliantly they are away.. 2 years is generally the time we get out of any decent player these days

You still haven’t explained what a lazy signing is.

I just did, he's a player who played with Rodgers before and is on a free transfer.

It's not exactly top level scouting from us is it? We could have agreed a deal with him before the Euro's if he was our top target.

I’d be happy with him but are the club just incapable of spending * money?

The ever reliable football insider reporting that we are close to signing a second keeper this week

    It’s pretty self explanatory.

We’ve had 7 months to find a goalkeeper and we’ve ended up with a soon to be 38 year old free agent who played for our current manager.

He may well be good for us, but it’s quite clearly pretty lazy recruitment.

    GK- Barkas £4.5 mil
    LB- Bernabei £4.5 mil…..

money doesn’t always guarantee their quality

Fair enough, the main criteria for lazy signing appears to be that he’s played for the manager before.

I think that’s a real positive to go after someone you know and trust rather than a leap into the unknown

he’s also lived and worked in Scotland speaks the language etc and would be accepted by other teams

other than lazy I think it’s a proactive signing and we’ve used our usp’s to get it over the line (if it happens)

I agree on spending money where needed but I think this is great business. Losing Hart with all his experience replacing him with Schmeichel who I think is a better goalkeeper too. Let’s hope the money saved on a goalkeeper will allow us to spend a good £8-£10m on a LB..:31:

I don't see this as the board being inept, they are in general but I think this was actually decent work. If we were unable to sign out top targets, which can happen, I don't want us spunking millions on a third choice. We've gone with someone the manager trusts, for a year or 2 while we sort it out.

I think people complaining that we didn't spend money, why? Good players can be free.

I take your point but Bernabei was just over £3m

Honestly don't give a * about his age, he's still a quality goalkeeper.
He's a fitness fanatic, and a real student of the game.

Folk can moan about the board and their approach yaddah yaddah, but even at 38 he's still a better signing than this other guy Jensen we were supposedly looking at.

To be honest goalkeeper is probably the one position where going for experience is a good option. It's harder to bleed them into a team and a good manager won't find it as easy to add to their game.

If we were to get 2 good years out of him then I don’t see the problem. Good keeper with bags of experience and leadership qualities !! We tend to only keep players for 2-3 years anyway and are getting him on a free. Can then hopefully spend more money on other areas of the team
