Is he though? The rte panel had a discussion on how it was a national debate back in Denmark on why he's still their no 1, while hes not been great for the last few years. The impression they gave is that most Danes didn't think he should of been in squad besides starting every game. This has a car crash signing written all over it. Thought he was awful in his last season at Leicster and he was poor at Nice as well.

Money isn't everything, signings can still be good and be low cost. Conversely, you could spend money and end up with Barkas.

People are also saying it's lazy which may be true but he could be exactly who Rodgers wants.

I think Kasper will be a reliable signing and maybe it will allow us to take some risks in other areas (I hope).

Probably one of the few who could have followed Hart in terms of presence and personality...

He was excellent at the Euro's and had a good season in Belgium.

Is it a lazy signing from the board? 100%, but that doesn't mean it's a bad signing.

Yeah I don't get this either.. top class keeper that's won the PL just played in the Euros and our managers worked with..

Maybe it's lazy because he don't come from the Korean second division or Australias semi pro league.. lazy *

It is a lazy signing as it's not exactly someone we'll have been scouting for weeks. He's a GK who worked under Rodgers prior and is available on a free.

I didn't say I'm not happy with it, I am, but it's not like this signing shows our scouting network is hard at work.

I don’t think ye can call it a lazy signing when they’re a high caliber player and will improve that position tbh

In fairness we don't know that either mate...

He's very good mates with Joe Hart.. this could of been talked about ages ago for all we know..

He said he was concentrating on the Euros first

Feels similar to the Idah situation. We had months to find a striker. We got to the end of the window without finding anyone, Rodgers called someone he knows about a player he knows, and we get him in for free. Now that turned out well in so much as Idah did a good job, but it was due to a complete failure from Celtic to do a proper recruitment job.

This feels the same. I think it would be a good signing. But we've had since February to find a keeper and once again it feels like Rodgers has found a cheap short term option to save the day. I have zero faith there is any plan behind this signing other than being 3 weeks away from season start and once against the recruitment team has failed.

I think @Sween hit the nail on the head with the point I was trying to make.

You could be right, but I think I we've missed out on our first choice this summer (Jensen) and just went to Rodgers to use his contacts, which is fine in this regard as I think Schmeichel is a great keeper, but it shows how inept our board is.

    * it I am happy with this, sorts out the leadership void too. I would like a younger keeper to come in alongside him though, maybe the young lad from Legia. The fact he rejected the Saudi's as well who I assume were offering much more wages makes me happy as well.

I know we won't do this as our board are idiots and just aspire to be slightly better than Rangers but it gives us money to sign a proper center half, a proper 6 a replacement for Matt, a winger and a number 9.

He’s a very very good stop gap for us, hope we are still going splash some cash on a quality keeper since Siegrist will be away and I doubt we’ll only go into the season with Kasper and Bain.
