Kasper Schmeichel

Hardly a ringing endorsement. I want us to be more ambitious than going for a 38 year old goalkeeper. Pretty much no elite club across the continent signs a first team goalkeeper that old.

 

Another so called 'has been' getting written off only to ram words down people's throats. Luvly.

 

People were saying Joe was done when he came here. If we do get him I'd guess he wouldn't have been our first choice but people have been complaining about possibly starting the season with Bain. This would be a massive improvement.

We'll still need to look at this area again in over the next few years, but again, at this point in time I think he's a good option.

 

How was he at the Euro's ? Didn't see any of the Danish games.

 

I think Jensen was 100% our first choice and that's fallen through.

 

6 months younger than the keeper we've just lost to retirement. We also had 7 months to come up with a keeper Rodgers has worked with before ... Dorus De Vries sized alarm bells ringing

 

We're far from a elite club tbf.

Elite clubs have actual transfer strategies.

 

Mate these are the kinda things people were saying when we were linked with Hart. I know Schmeichel is a bit older but he's still number 1 for his country and has barely skipped a beat in terms of playing time the past few years.

I'm not saying it's a perfect solution by any means, but I'm pretty confident he'll do us a turn for a year or two.

 

* may as well give Joe Hart another year contract if these useless * can't get a keeper from the whole of Europe and with 6 months notice as well the recruitment process must be non existent at the club * embarrassing.

 

Replacing a 37 year old Joe Hart with a 37 year old Kasper Schmeichel . He may well be great for us but it's hard not to laugh at how this club does business sometimes.

I'm assuming the deal for the guy at Sparta fell through.

Would love us to sign the Finnish guy at Aston Villa too but that won't happen

 

I would be amazed if when Hart said he was retiring we had Schmeichel as close to being our first choice.

Very worrying our transfer strategy. I'm not saying he's * just that I think there's better out there we should be looking at.

 

I think he is a brilliant replacement for Hart. Feel dirty for saying it, but I think he is better than Hart and will also replace the leadership skills Hart had.

Folk are allowed an opinion.

The decline in a player can be rapid once you get to his age. Hart did well for us but his general decline was obvious on more than a few occasions for us, including the season just gone.

I'm not saying we're an elite club. My point is that if we do want to strive to be the best we can be, we don't look at a guy who will soon be 38.

Hart was 34 when he signed. That's a big difference of time in football. He'll be absolutely fine for a lot of domestic games where we have the majority of possession, but I want a younger and more athletic goalkeeper (without his injury history) for more difficult games.

One of the main reasons folk are fine with this is because he's a name they've heard of.

 

Get him in for a year then get Jim Leighton in next summer

A lazy signing from the club if true nothing against Kasper.

 

Don't know how to feel about this, if he was 2/3 years younger then I'd be happy with it but at 37/38 it's risky even if he has played consistently over the last few years who's to say he won't start slowing down next season.

We're so * cheap man, no ambition whatsoever.
