I think teh Academy just needs a complete shake down. I don't have faith in the club to arrange loans to improve the players, going to a club that will help them develop into what WE NEED. The Academy is just a job for the bhoys anyway isn't it? O'Dea, Hayes, McManus? Maybe it's just a coincidence but I doubt it. Also the Head of teh Academy has been here since 2012, McGregor and Tierney the only ones who've made a massive impact with Ralston behind since he's been here.

 

Is that not a damning indictment of our youth setup?

Then you end by saying it’s unrealistic to expect us to develop young players… why? That’s the entire point of an academy system.

 

Also, clubs like Ajax and Benfica play under the same weight of expectation and pressure to win, so there goes that excuse.

 

I'm not saying there isn't anything wrong with the youth setup. It's horrendous. But people are constantly going on like we should be like those clubs above which we are a million miles aff it.
It's unrealistic because we don't have a forward thinking board. It's ran by dinosaurs. So the whole thing needs a shake up from top to bottom but if we are being realistic that is never happening is it?

 

Just like Doak the boy is too ugly to play for us. Bullet dodged. Phone MK Dons and ask if they have anymore of them Matt Orileys.

 

Brendan Rodgers has said Kelly has been offered a very good contract and would have first team opportunities this season but he still wants to leave. If that is the case then he can * off and most likely disappear into the obscurity of English lower league football….or are we saying Rodgers is lying and he hasn’t been offered a very good contract and that’s why he is leaving.

Regardless of whether you think Celtic have the worst youth set-up in the history of football, If Celtic have offered him a very good contract and have said he will get first team game time then what else do people expect Celtic to do?

 

They just aren’t good enough is the point.

If you can tell me a single player who has had an even half decent career from when they left us then I’ll review

The two really need to be interconnected and overseen by a DoF with a long term strategy.

 

Imagine being that age and having the opportunity to be in and around the Celtic first team or instead signing for a Watford or a Plymouth etc

Benfica finished 2nd last year after spending a lot on players and Ajax finished 5th after spending a lot on players
