I don’t mind that. We coped okay with just those 2 at the end and if we have another oh wasting away it’s pointless. Much rather a young academy player get those appearances off the bench than a player bought for millions never to be used

 

Brendan Rodgers hasn't given up hope that Celtic will have a couple of new faces on board for next week's trip to America.

The Hoops have been frustrated in their attempts to strike a deal with Norwich City for Adam Idah after seeing their initial £4million bid rejected. Talks are ongoing but the Canaries are fighting to keep their homegrown striker.

Celts are also locked in discussions with Benfica as they attempt to seal a permanent return for Paulo Bernardo. A successor for the retired Joe Hart has yet to be found but Rodgers has his fingers crossed that the club will have some announcements to make before their USA pre-season tour.


He said: “It's natural to ask that question because we’re a club that needs to improve the squad. We’ve had players targeted for a while. It’s still bubbling away but it’s never easy. I mentioned before about getting at least a couple in before we go to America. That's still the idea


We all know we lost three players and they were very important players for us. That alone demonstrates we need to make that right and we also have to improve. I’m confident we’ll be able to do that."

Canny even be arsed watching pre-season just now. Going into games against teams from England with Scott Bain in goal and Greg Taylor and Liam Scales in defence is tragic. Going to be embarrassing.

 

They ended up getting basically bombed out tho, I'm not disputing the players you've mentioned being worse than Taylor and Scales, just putting it out there that the original post probably meant they are our 2 weakest outfield players who start near enough every game. We have a lengthy list of deadwood.

Will be a case of Rodgers telling the press signings are close when he is in America. Then when we get back saying something along the lines it's is taking a little longer than expected, then with a week to transfer deadline we will announce we just couldn't get the deals over the line. We will panic buy in the last week on project players because the longterm targets that were first team ready couldn't not be signed.

Fed up with this board - unless selling a player their transfer dealings are beyond * - I'd happily re-employ McKay. We actually made signings when he was here
