Tremendous talent, however, it was only a few years after the 'Three Amigos' that a Celtic team was assembled that would run through brick walls for the jersey...that was much more important.

The game against the Huns always sticks in my mind, think it was the league cup, where he destroyed them so much so they kicked the * out of him and he had to go off injured.

Great wee player but left in search of the big bucks.

I'm kind of somewhere in between.

He was sensational in his first season and probably deserved to negotiate a better contract, he just went about it the wrong way.

How was he lied to by the board or Mc Cann?

Nobody knows if he was. Him, Cadete and Pierre to a lesser extent said they were promised performance related bonuses and increases on their contracts.
If that is the case it would no doubt of been in writing. Fergus McCann is a businessman after all. Not Harry Redknapp.
Either they are talking * (more than likely) or they didn't meet the criteria for triggering these bonuses/rewards.

I think Pierre got the hump more because of Burns' sacking than anything else.

I personally think Di Canio and Cadete used the sacking of Burns to create a situation where they could manoeuvre a move away for more money.
After all it's easier to make McCann look a * after he has just sacked Mr Celtic, is it not?

Hard done? No. He's doing pretty well.

I * love this lad, but to suggest he wasn't a money grabber is silly.

He thought he was worth more, and the club balked.

    No biggie, really.

Aye blame the board. He thought he was bigger than the club and found out otherwise .Megalomaniac, thats what Paolo is in my eyes.

Probably neither. He certainly wasn't hard done by but he quickly recognised he was worth more than what he was getting paid. I remember a lot of 'gentleman handshake' talk regarding bonuses, etc, around that time which sounded like bollocks

I don't understand why he stayed at West Ham though? I mean he was a cracking player, he said he refused Man United? Surely he can't be that much of a rat? Must have been pretty loyal.

    Loved this wee tune

When the ball hits the net and it's not Jorge Cadete it's DiCanio,
When it sails through the air and it's not big Pierre it's DiCanio,
When it goes like a bomb and it's not Andy Thom it's DiCanio,
When he goes all the way and it's not Paul McStay it's DiCanio,
When the ball is cut back and it's not Jackie Mac it's DiCanio#

Bit if a bump but thought I’d bring this up as a some one else somewhere on face book stating Celtic got 4.2 million plus blinker from sheff wendnesday now I’ve been on tranfermarkt and it says free meaning it was a straight swap reason it’s came up is jock brown says we got blinker and larsson … from this I think he’s meaning the wages saved on di canio paid for blinker and larsson as he doesn’t state how much the daily star at the time though says 4.2 million … now milan accepted 2 million from Celtic a really don’t see Wednesday forking out 4.2 million and an international Dutch player aswell
