He’s not been playing a full 90 minutes recently for St mirren played 45 minutes against Hearts back at the beginning of the month sat on the bench against Kilmarnock and Motherwell. Pretty sure the last time he got a full 90 mins was the game St Mirren beat Aberdeen 2-1

On-loan Celtic midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu will miss the final games of the season on loan to St Mirren through injury.

The 23-year-old was ineligible to face parent club last weekend.

But, talking to BBC Scotland before Sunday's visit by Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, Buddies manager Stephen Robinson explained the Korean's latest absence by revealing: "Unfortunately, we’ve lost Kwon for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury."

Kwon had made nine appearances, all starts, for the Paisley side since joining on loan in January

Kwon Hyeok-Kyu's St Mirren season is over but Buddies boss Stephen Robinson hopes Celtic will let him have the Korean ace back next term.

The Saints support have taken to the 23-year-old midfielder since his January arrival. But a torn hamstring means he will sit out the final four games as they look to nail down a long-awaited return to Europe. Robinson said: “Kwon’s out for the season. He has torn his hamstring. He’s still with us, he’s still having treatment with us. But Kwon is very unlikely to be involved before the end of the season. It was an injury during training. It’s the first hamstring injury we’ve had all season, which was a real disappointmen

Is he an option for next season? Yeah, we’ve spoken with Celtic but it’s very early stages. Celtic will have to assess what they want from Kwon and how they see him fitting in. We won’t get a decision on that any time soon. We’ll just try to build a squad in the meantime. We’d love to have him back as he has been very good for us.

But I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire and hopefully we’ll have a couple of things moving by early next week. We’d love to be in a position to wait. Kwon has been fantastic for us. We’ll stay in dialogue with Celtic, as we do with every team we loan players from.

If that option is there next season then brilliant. If not there may well be other positions that are more of a priority for us. But he’s loved his time here. The only game I didn’t play him was Kilmarnock away. He has started all the other games when fit and available for me. Obviously he couldn’t play in the one against Celtic.

They can keep him. More squad players we get out the door just now the better. Looks a tidy player but never going to be challenging for a starting spot.

Should be sending him back for another loan, he impressed there and definitely needs a full season under his belt. A lot to like about him.

Nothing to suggest he can push for a starting place in our team.

Tbh I liked the look of him with st mirren any time I watched him. Definitely worth having a look at in pre season. Even if not a starter could be a decent rotational player. Big strong and quick

Midfield is arguably the most difficult position to nail down a spot. McGregor will play most games, as will Hatate when fit. So he needs to be better than Iwata, maybe Kelly, or another signing coming in. I won’t pretend I followed him at the Buddies but I can’t see him getting much game time.

For his size he's pretty poor in the air and he got shrugged off the ball by smaller players when the ball was on the ground, so I hope Rodgers doesn't just see a tall lad and play him at CB.

Would loan him out to Aberdeen or hearts for season. Playing with better players and see following season what he can offer
