Bertie Voghts, Matt Busby, Tommy Doherty, Willie Ormond and briefly Tommy Burns. Some were brief appointments but that was chance and was not known when they were appointed. Of course Jock Stein was a protestant but he was Mr Celtic. Incidentally, someone posted whinging about non-selection of Celtic players by Scotland, citing Tommy Burns as a victim in one WC. Well they didnt mention the manager was Big Jock at the time!!! The biase in selection ended nearly 40 years ago when modern managers who picked the team themselves began. Loads of Scotlands greats were catholics from the end of the 60s onwards - Joe Jordan, Bily Bremner etc.

Totally agree. The board should be answering the fans on why we never got the left back we wanted.

most managers sweated there * off up untill midnight tonight, from man utd to nottingham forest! WGS OR THE BOARD should have been out there to the end still trying to sign someone..

its the fact that they DIDN'T EVEN TRY TODAY that * us off!

i think you could be right, but in fairness, i've not just been blaming strachan, ive been blaming the people in charge too.

how many times have we been exposed down the left, what i will say about strachan is though, he played a right back at left back in and old firm derby, we lost 4-2, two goals came from the left, and were defensive errors.

and he says afterwards he won't panic buy, it's not a panic buy anyway, its an essential buy, if that never made him realise we need a left back, what needs to happen for him to sit up and take notice ?

I always blamed the board for this. My problem is with people calling Strachan all the *. They don't know the full fact.

I think selction has been pretty fair. Could quibble here and there but overall fair. Celtic players have been very well represented most of the time in recent decades. Loads of ex-Celtic too. How did big Jock sell out?? Thats crazy talk.

i think its the fact that we know the board are there to stay, and the manager is the public figure head we can give a bashing to..

the board is 99% to blame

but wgs with mick as the captain, and the mick and gary and wilson defence... and playing brown infront of robson.... and giving riodan pish chances... he must take some blame... his tactics are more obvious every game!

i think we can both agree with that!

well considering you just posted saying he left tommy burns out, thats sold out.

cos i guarantee most of the other midfielders in that squad played for celtic.

Exactly. I don't get anyone that thinks the manager can hold the board responsible to them... sorry, but the relationship is almost always the other way around.

No... and the 2nd isn't really his job description. Is his job to improve and manage the team, or to lobby a bunch of old men for money every day?

    Dead on.

    Agreed.

even if we all blamed the board, which we do too.

you would still be saying we're glory hunters and cannot be pleased.

you would probably say, what can the board do, they gave WGS money throughout the summer, and he spent it.

which he did, that's where the criticism for WGS comes into play.

cant remember the details but I do remember the rival was someone very decent so no complaints. The way he did it was apparently really bad though but that was BJ's style. Not the sensative type. I think there is a bit about it in Erchie McPhersons book about BJ.

wgs is to blame..... for putting out the same predictable tactics and lack of evolving football.... that is all... (although its enough to make him a bit of a *... esspecially with the interviews)

BUT THE BOARD IS MOST TO BLAME! strachan for on park, board for transfers and things!

together its a bad situation... wgs shouldn't leave, but he should up his game and tactics!

So by your arguments here guys does that mean Rangers would still have won the league if we didn't get to Seville??? Just wondering what your thought were at that time?
