There is a * ton of them in South America but the issue being most of the time not all is having played international matches to qualify for a visa.

since we have come out of the EU it’s become even harder so places like Portugal, Belgium, Austria and Poland get loads of these types of players due to less visa restrictions or dual nationality.

It’s a market we should have been tapping into a long time ago.

Not if he had dual nationality…… now Brexit makes it even harder.

It doesn't make it easier, it just means that it is as difficult to get players from Europe now as it is the rest of the world, so now you are as well looking wherever the best value is, rather than just going for European players, like we mostly did before, as it was easy.

Andy Rojas is another target for the Hoops. The Herediano attacker is currently at Copa America with Costa Rica but is club say they've had plenty of interest - including a concrete offer from a club in Portugal.

Vice-president Aquil Ali said: "At the moment, the only proposal we have received is an offer from Portugal that we are reviewing. We are also obviously waiting for Andy to return after the Copa America has finished.

There is interest and we are waiting. Many clubs make their moves after the Copa América and so we are going to wait. Several clubs from Spain, Portugal and Belgium have asked too, as well as from the MLS, although we would prefer the footballer to go to Europe

It's not about disparaging MLS or anything like that, but we want to try to get Andy Rojas into Europe and have a sell-on clause in case of a second sale. We are looking for a league similar to the ones in Belgium and Portugal and then he can make the jump to a stronger one

Not really, if they have dual nationality it’s makes it just as hard.

before we could sign them say if they had a Spanish passport due to free movement within the EU now we have to make sure they are either a international or we apply saying they have a bright future to be one etc.

Each one on its own merits. So it’s now much harder.

It's exactly the same wherever we sign players from outside the UK now, so it's pretty much irrelevant how hard it is, it needs to be done regardless. It's also easier for us to sign non internationalists than it is in England as it's simpler for us to make the argument they will improve our league than it would be down there, that gives us an advantage for players looking to make it to England as we are a stepping stone for them.

You have come in at the end of a discussion saying it’s irrelevant, it’s not when we had the discussion with the other poster.

So for context was it easier to sing players when we were in the EU single market from EU countries? Or players who had EU passports? Yes it was and that’s what the discussion was on also.

That's Costa Rica out now so we'll see if there's anything in it

I read the discussion, it may be harder now in those rare occasion a player from there had a dual passport, but what I'm saying is it's a moot point with regards to the here and now as it needs to happen anyway with whoever we sign from outside the UK. We have to jump through all the same hoops regardless.

In some few cases yes, in others it's the same as it's always been. It still doesn't matter as we have to deal with it just the same in all cases outside the UK, whether it's harder or not.

This is the kind of deal that excites our Chairman, a young project at £4 million, low wages with potential to sell on, its a goer.

That’s what I was saying it’s harder, I don’t know why you keep going on about it though?

Because it really doesn't matter whether it's harder or not, we still have to deal with the same situation for any player we are signing from outside the UK whether that's South America, Africa, Europe or wherever. So if South America offers the best value that's where we should be looking for players even if it is "harder". Which in most instances for us it isn't, it's exactly the same amount of hard it was before.
