I read that they are in no urgent position, but still some sales would allow them to spend more. They apparently have good CB depth so losing him would be a blow but not as bad as someone like Berge.

I reckon he’ll move on, but not to us as we won’t stump the fee.

Is he actually any good? Know * all about him so just have the naive presumption that as he's at Burnley he can't be worth what he's cost to sign at all

Nawrocki was definitely one and also Souza who didn’t come but who we were in for.

I think that was the one they were all giving him a hard time for at the outset when he said we were trying to sign a Brazilian.

Although being fair all he has said here is we are in for him much like the reports. It sounds like if we are to get him there is a long way to go.

On MJ being included it will depend who leaves them as they actually have a pretty decent squad. I am not sure he would be a target for them.

I remember now, he said we were after two south American players, one of which was Bernabei, the other was Souza, who we didn't get but it was obvious we wanted him.

Away from the fact of whether or not The Republican is accurate, is O'Shea actually any good?

I know we might be excited by the fee, as it looks like we are willing to back Rodgers this summer but is he actually worth that sort of outlay?

Dunno but he's fast apparently. Something we've missed with Starfelt going

I don't doubt that we 'want' him. Whether we can get him is another thing. You're surely talking no less than £15m.

    Not a chance.

Be a big statement of intent if manage to land this guy, seems like the top end of any sort of realistic target we could get. I'd call this proof that we're aiming a lot higher than last year but it'll take a lot of work to get it done. Fingers crossed.

What is a realistic price for this guy? I’ve seen anywhere between 7-15 million …

Would be excited with this one though, second CB only to Van Veen in the PL pace department is impressive.

Major upgrade on our cb’s apart from ccv. Think him and ccv would form a great partnership.

I suspect the reason why we may have a chance is Burnley and their PSR situation. They currently stand at £100m in losses, with the obligations to buy this season already being agreed.

With them dropping back down to the Championship, their PSR states they can only have a maximum of £85m in losses, similar to Leicester and their return. They need to sell, which is why they sold Trafford and it might be why they're looking to sell O'Shea to us.

On the fee, they paid £17m for Trafford and only sold him for £15m, meaning they had a £2m loss. If they were offered their money back on O'Shea, I suspect they would accept it, around £7m.

Had a wee look on their forums and they absolutely do not want to lose him so they must rate him down there. Talking a minimum of £15m from a lot of them, though. Makes it extremely unlikely.

He’s always looked pretty solid for Ireland, and as mentioned has decent pace.

Could be wrong, but I’m not sure how Burnley would be in a position to look for anywhere close to double what they paid, when he’s only been there for a season, in which they were relegated.

Very good age, a great leader (West Brom made him their captain at 23), rarely makes mistakes, pacey and a threat from set pieces. I feel like we'd get priced out of a move but I'd love if we got him.

Just remember this is Celtic. We had 6 months to plan for Hart leaving. What makes you think we've thought about it for CCV
