I'll eat my hat if we come close to £30m. In my view, it will be sub-£25m with addons. It wouldn't shock me to be honest if it was sub-£20m as I don't really believe we knocked back a £20m deal previously. Our club negotiate hard on buying players and often not at all on selling them. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Not sure I agree, for the most part, we are pretty good at selling players. Jota for £25m, Eddy and Ajer for good fees with 1 year on their deal, smart sell-ons for players like Frimpong. The only two recent disappointing ones (although they are older players so it’s kinda understandable) were GG and Juranovic.

It’s probably the one part of our transfer strategy that I wouldn’t criticise. We don’t sell players at the right times often enough, but we do usually get decent fees.

I agree those weren't terrible bits of business but I attribute them more to luck than anything. Jota we got lucky with Saudis throwing money around. Ajer and Eddy were good for a year left on their contract, but they should never have had a year left on their contract. Eddy should have commanded a higher fee as one of our leading assets, and don't forget we let Christie go for a pittance.

Frimpong I don't agree was good business. He had ages on a nothing contract, could have kept and sold him for double the money in a year or two with similar addons. Look at the money being discussed for him now, we 100% jumped the gun on him. We could be talking the kinds of numbers we're looking at for O'Riley with Frimpong.

GG and JJ were bad bits of business, we were just throwing money away on transfers out during the Ange years. I'd argue also we let Julien go for too little, as well we letting multiple players go on frees to clubs with money to spend (e.g., Rogic, Ntcham, Bitton, even Barkas).

I can't stand here and argue we haven't made money but I'd argue we leave a lot of money on the table, both in how we buy and how we sell.

Celtic are reportedly demanding a record-breaking Scottish transfer fee if they are to sell Matt O'Riley this summer.

The 23-year-old has suitors from across Europe with Atletico Madrid and Roma among the clubs who have been linked with an approach. The Scottish Premiership champions were approached by Atletico about a move deal for O'Riley in January but kicked out a bid with a focus on the end of season run-in, however, the Spanish giants are said to still hold an interest in the Celtic star this summer.

But it is English Premier League new boys Southampton who appear ready to make a move. Record Sport previously revealed that the ex-MK Dons boss and current Saints gaffer Russell Martin was keen to reunite with O'Riley following promotion to the to the English top flight having been the man responsible for bringing the Danish international to Stadium MK in 2020. He previously tried to take him to Swansea with him before a move to Celtic materialised

Now The Times are reporting that Southampton are ready to make their move. It is stated that Celtic value O'Riley at £30million - which would smash the previous record received for a player when Jota left for Al-Ittihad 12 months ago.

It is said that the fee is "unlikely to deter" the St Mary's side after they have gained access to the Premier League prize pot once again. O'Riley netted 19 goals and contributed 18 assists across all competitions last season - so the Hoops are unlikely to be in any rush to sell

Southampton are ready to make a £20million summer bid for Celtic midfield star Matt O’Riley.

The English Premier League new boys are set to make the huge bid, with future add-ons included that would potentially take the deal past Celtic’s record sales in the region of £25m for Kieran Tierney and Jota. The Parkhead outfit would stand to get the further payments if Southampton were to remain in the top flight, and depending on future successes for the club and O’Riley

Saints boss Russell Martin is a big fan of the midfielder, having worked with him at MK Dons. Since then, O’Riley has moved north and blossomed into one of Celtic’s key players. Southampton won’t pay over the odds because of financial fair play constraints as Martin looks to build a squad that will make them competitive in the English Premiership. The Danish international was a stand-out for the Hoops as they lifted the double last season

He signed a new deal in October and has already attracted some major interest. Spanish giants Atletico Madrid made a move in January but the loan-to-buy deal was turned down. Italian side Inter have also been long-term admirers and there are a number of other clubs who are watching his situation closely

O’Riley was disappointed to miss out on the Denmark squad for Euro 2024, which they exited at the weekend after losing 2-0 to hosts Germany.

Could see him going there with his former manager being there. Hopefully the risk that they could go straight back down again might put him off

Cos none of the players that where on international duty are. Maeda and Hatate are still in Japan. O'Riley was called up to train with Denmark before he got dropped for the euros. Sadly I reckon he will have signed for another team by the time he's due back anyway

Na we undervalue our players massively. Jota at £25m was a steal, we didn't need to sell and interest was from a mega rich club, we could have gotten at least another 10m for him but we saw that 25m is a lot and snapped at it. For that reason our players will always be seen as cheap options by other clubs/leagues, we need to start valuing them based on what we want to get rather than what we think other clubs would want to pay.

For me he should not be sold for less than a record fee upfront before add ons.

His performances and numbers last year were crazy high. Southampton may have had a season in the Championship but they sold over €185m worth of players last season and only spent just over €20m. They got promoted straight back up and would have had a parachute payment. They can easily afford to pay what we are looking for.

Anything with a guaranteed 2 at the start likely seals it.
    We simply won't get £30M.

We know what's going to happen here they will sell O'Reilly for £25 million then spend £25 million on 6 players and not touch the £100 million plus sitting in the bank its typical Celtic board

I will be very happy if we do - assuming we actually spend it
