Just got tickets for Tom Vek in Oct, and We Are Scientists in November. Also got tickets for Blade Runner being shown at the Armadillo with a live band playing the soundtrack in Sept which should be cool as *.

You won’t be disappointed, it’s peerless. The set list, the voice, the band, the polish on top it’s just perfect.

Absolutely awesome concert, as good as I’ve seen. Loved every minute. The whole of the moon was an unexpected bonus- the Killers version of that is better than the original imo.
Travis also pretty good as a support act.

So jealous I wont be here for this. Hope you guys have a great time, but am seriouslyt jealous.

Although, will be catching Pearl Jam & Pixies in Sydney at the end of November, with some old friends not been in person with for nearly 20 years, so will just have to content myself with that, but man, why couldn't J&MC have done this like a month or so earlier? lol

I’ve not seen a single person say anything negative about it yet, that is some going in this day and age. Pun intended.

I can't remember a band that does cover versions as good as The Killers, as you mention they actually improve on the original which is a rarity.

Was at Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins a couple for weeks ago. Weezer were solid, pure nostalgia for those of us who were into them 20 years ago. Bit disappointed with Smashing Pumpkins. They were OK but pretty forgettable in my opinion.

Manic street Preachers and Suede at Edinburgh Castle next week. Only really going for the Manics who I also try to see when they tour.

Ryan Adams in September and Nick Cave then Jason Isbell in November. Decent second half of the year!

Wow... I was at that same Pumpkins/Weezer gig a few weeks back also, and my friends and I were all in agreement, that the Pumpkins were far, far better than Weezer, who were dull, lifeless and stood still throughout, barely interacted with the ausience (or each other), while the setlist was all very standard and what you'd expect.

Personally, thought that was the 2nd best Pumplins show of the 6 times I've caught them live. Although, no effin idea what the U2 cover was all about. Last year in Sydney, they did a cover of The Church's 'Under the Milky Way', but that makes sense, as it's a nod to Australia (and specifically Sydney, where The Church are from), so unless they got Ireland and Scotland mixed up, or they think Glasgow is in Ireland or something, lol :p)

I think I just expected more from Pumpkins. I saw Weezer once years back and they haven't changed a bit. Even on their own, their set up is pretty minimal. For the Pumpkins I expected a bigger stage and I also hoped for more of a 'greatest hits' set. The pacing of their set list felt a bit odd and some bits were a bit self indulgent (Im not a U2 fan so i didnt know that song and it seemed to go on forever!) Also odd to put a massive drum solo on a cover 3 songs in. It was still fun and decent enough - maybe I'm just getting too old for them :56:
