The logical thing here is to walk away.

Either the Norwich side truly want to assess him with the chance to play a key role next season, or they are using it as a tactic to make him in demand and ramp that price tag up for us to buy. Either way, time to walk away.


But, this is Celtic. If there is any chance we can get him, they'll be lazy and sit on this all the way through til the tail end of August in hope that Norwich say "nah not good enough" that he's flopped in a game or two and then get it in for a "knocked down" fee that will still be too high

Why? They don't want to sell him yet. Maybe he wants to find out if he's got a future under the new manager

 

If Norwich are wanting to look at him in pre season then we need to move on. This isn't Lionel Messi we are are looking to buy and we need to get a team in and sorted early. They are probably wanting us to pay over the odds also. Good luck to him and them.

 

I still want him and the signs seem to indicate he wants a move. Hopefully we can make it happen.

 

What are the signs? Not seen anything indicating it one way or the other.

 

The way he spoke in an interview recently gave me the impression he wants to leave Norwich.

In that case then move on.

He sounded pretty certain he loved it here and wanted to stay (without literally saying those words). And Rodgers is obviously desperate to sign him.

If that’s the case, he should be here already.

 

I think it can be true that both Idah and Rodgers are literally creaming over working together and desperately want it to happen for next season.

But at same time Norwich look like they are getting above their station and acting like they can abuse the situation by trying to milk Celtic for far more than Idah is worth.

If Norwich take anything over £6.5 mill from us to sign him... as much I love Idah and know it my bones he will be a relative success for us... Norwich will have robbed us blind.

It is a weird situation to be in because we clearly have money to spend, but I still don't celtic getting done over and letting Norwich dictate terms

 

I'm sure he did but he's got another 4 years left on his contract there and they have a new manager

 

He's a Norwich player, 4yrs left on his contract.

New manager will have seen how well he has done here and hasn't assessed him in the flesh yet..

With no buy option negotiated, Norwich hold all the cards and can work through at their pace.

We likely came in low with an initial offer..

Bit early to walk away altogether yet..

 

Should look at other options and not put all our eggs in the one basket but this is celtic and I always think there is an opportunity for the board to sit on this one potential signing and we end up with no striker at all

 

It's frustrating because I want him here but I get that their new manager wants to have a look at him and that will obv take time. Like others have said, I hope we are looking at other options in the background incase we get priced out or they decide they don't want to sell.
Would be raging if we let this rumble on all window to not happen and ended up with no new striker. Wouldn't be surprised tho.

I never get the 'need to take a look at him' in this day and age. It's not an antique rug, there's plenty footage of him out there, you can make your assessment without counting the threads.

 

Pretty sure we weren't given the option..

As others have said he's a Norwich player on a long contract so if the new manager wants to have a look at him in the flesh that's his perogative.. only way it happens before that is if we come in with a stupid offer they can't refuse and we all know that's not going to happen.

If this gets done it won't be till late in the transfer window I reckon

 

In hindsight yes, but most of us were far from impressed with him coming at the start.

 

We either try and get a deal or We walk away, no time to be * about up until deadline day like Lawwell always does to save a few grand.
