There's going to be a stadium at the new Barrowfield for the women's team

Also Lennoxtown doesn't need any changes

See what your saying about stadia at the ground that was hinted at and was in one of the drawing then poof disappeared and not mentioning it any more … and one of the contractors or someone that worked for them was on here saying lawell had looked over the plans and some of his handiwork is in regards to cutting things out

Get that, not actually against barrowfield either, but do wonder why not just continue to expand on Lennox town and have all levels and teams training in one place as one club? So youth just step up and up at the same place, they can train then watch the first team etc. No one feels excluded or "over there".

Would have made more sense, but I'm sure there is other reasoning behind it all, so no actually moaning, just curious.

    Still think it will happen

The plan was always to have a proper venue for the women and youth side

Would think it would be the first thing they work on crowds will never enlarge for women or even b side if the games are not central for everyone

I’d say at the moment women’s football is around the standard of the upper echelons of a men’s Sunday Pub League. Would be more than happy to throw millions at it.

Because Lennoxtown is x amount of miles away.

Barrowfield is central in the East End of Glasgow, keeping the facilities generally accessible.

I think it's vital that the youth teams and the 1st team use the same facilities. Young players get inspired training next to their idols, plus the manager can follow their progress closely. Redevelopment is nice. Next step should be expansion by acquiring the property right next to the current facilities.

It would be nice if we had all the teams under one roof.

But if they have to be separated due to land issues then this is probably the best way moving forward.

Yes is a large investment but for us to progress and move forward as a club this needs doing.

Do I want to see our current board take us forward no I don’t but we do need better facilities.

Moving forward with other leagues being able to outspend us, and offer more wages we might have to go down the line of producing our own. For me should be the goal and would love half the first team being produced from the academy, can I see it happening? Maybe not but something needs to change.

I think a few others have said about appealing to someone to buy us, it would make sense, but again who’s going to come in and over pay cause DD and co will want top dollar.

Would make sense to do that.

CELTIC are just weeks away from the scheduled completion date of their 'state of the art' rebuild of Barrowfield.

The historic training ground - used by the Hoops for decades until the first-team moved to Lennoxtown - has been revamped and repurposed.

For the past year work has been underway to give the club's youth and women's side a base to rival the first-team's.

And with a scheduled completion date in November, Youtuber Drone Audit Scotland took a look at the final stages of work in the east end of Glasgow.

Aerial images show a close up of the stunning indoor facility's roof exterior, as well as two external buildings and pitches being used by one of the club youth teams.

The proposed site of the facility's car park is still a mud-bath filled with tools and equipment and looks to be the last stage of the redevelopment

An L-shaped out-house building in the corner also still seems to be in a state of construction before the groundstaff can use it for tools and maintenance equipment.

The Hoops got the green-light for the work last September and have been busy reconstructing the ground that once housed legends like Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish and Henrik Larsson.

It will also include a full-size indoor pitch, state-of-the-art gym and fitness facilities, lavish lit-up changing areas, medical suites for player treatment and rehab as well as sport science and analysis centres.

Outside, two more full-size pitches are already in use - all in the shadow of Celtic Park along London Road.

The club cameras went behind the scenes earlier this year but, now less than a week before November - the scheduled completion month - begins there's been another fresh look taken by the high-flying Youtuber.

Drone Audit Scotland is a YouTube page which uses drones and cameras to inspect construction sites and give viewers the chance to see the ongoing work behind the scenes.

And after flying over the east end last Saturday he said: "They must be ahead of schedule because it's a Saturday and they're due to finish next month.

"They'd be working here if they were behind schedule

But it's not much different to what I saw when I was last down in September."

Brendan Rodgers said: "I know the Club always aims to be the best in everything it does and the new centre demonstrates Celtic’s real commitment to this area.

The base gives a new look to the skyline behind the Celtic Supporters club on London Road - just a long throw-in from Celtic Park.

"Ultimately, the aim of our Academy is to develop first-team players who reach first-team level and I know these great new facilities can support this objective very positively.

I am sure the new complex will be welcomed by our coaches and young players and of course, our women’s first-team, giving them all every opportunity to grow and improve in all areas of their work

Some of our greatest Celtic heroes have taken the journey from Barrowfield to Celtic Park and we hope our new centre will assist many more in doing the same.”

Academy head Chris McCart said: “This is the biggest investment and development since Lennoxtown and it’s one which the Academy is very excited about.

It’s going to be a boost for all our young players coming through the club.”

Celtic FC Women’s head coach, Elena Sadiku said: “It’s going to be easier for me to sell this idea of how we want to be as a club, our vision, and help them to achieve something.

"It’s going to be incredible when it’s done.”

Needs a proper pedestrianised walkway between it and Celtic Park. Along the river and then a wide bridge over London road to connect the two sites. Like Man City have got. Then statues, food stands and sports courts along the walk way
