"Improves on what we have now" is not a good metric for development.

Starfelts "success", like it not, was down to his partnership with CCV. By his Tom jone, he's a * show.

We need someone to properly partner and compliment CCV, and as @Mr Shelby said, someone to power out with possession.

If we were ACTUALLY looking, I mean really looking to develop and evolve as a side, and build something, Starfelt wouldn't even be on a list, nevermind a plan b,c or D.

CCV is massively influential at the back but to strip Starfelt of any credit is unfair. He was simply a better defender than the likes of Welsh, Jenz, Scales and Kobayashi and that's one of multiple reasons that partnership worked much better with CCV than anyone else.

I do however agree we should always try to strive for better and if we can match CCV with someone just as good then fantastic. But i'd personally love Starfelt back. He's an immediate improvement on Scales and if we did find someone better, then he'd be excellent for depth at the back.

 

Well we could go spend another near £10m on more CBs who are * in comparison to starfelt. Folk on this forum hate bringing old players back. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. * qaulity player.

 

No way McKenna is faster. There was one of those Celtic TV Teammates videos where a couple of players were asked who the fastest in the squad was, they said Daizen, but over a longer distance probably Starfelt.

 

He doesn’t suit what Rodgers wants in the slightest though, he was the key element next to CCV for Ange’s system, but for Rodgers and what he wants out his CB’s he’d be hung out to dry.

Honestly of all our recent CB’s, under BR, Moritz Jenz next to CCV is what we’re desperately needing

Yep: 100% agree on both players. I hope it’s a Jenz type of profile of player we’re looking at bringing in. Imposing frame, decent enough with the ball, likes a tackle, good in the air.
