We aren't paying £6m for him.

 

So we are starting this transfer window like every other recent transfer window, stuck in the year 2000..

Happy to cash in on Jotas and MOR etc.. and point to inflated transfers but going the other way our board refuse to move on from the early 00s..

Could be wrong but that's how I see it.. looking forward to another * champions league campaign already

 

We should absolutely be looking to drive down both the fee and wages of a player who's committed to coming here and a club that clearly want to sell, especially given the player has been alright but hardly set the world alight.

I'm still sceptical as to whether this will get done, however. If it happens, it will be long into the window after the negotiated £6m fee has expired and after Benefica receiving no comparable offers. If we were keen and willing to pay £6m, it'd be done already.

 

Sure why don't we go the whole hog and just pay him zilch and ask Benfica to give him to us for nothing..

In fairness it's probably all just paper talk, nothing they like better than to print negative * about Celtic.. just have to wait and see before we aim the double barrels at the board ha

For * sake will the board throw that biscuit tin in the skip, how many players have we failed to sign due to quibbling about a few quid but the board are happy to blow millions on numerous projects.

 

Nothing wrong with negotiating to try get good deals, just hope it doesn't lead us us not getting him and missing out on his potential.

We've recently went down the road of getting deals done quickly and moving on, and it resulted in selling GG and JJ for relative buttons. I prefer us being meticulous with negotiations if I'm honest.

 

Hopefully just some standard haggling going on. Given celtic knew his wages a year ago it would be a bizarre thing to get in the way of signing him.

That's my feeling about it. I don't think he raises the level of our team or adds anything different. It's a sideways move rather than one that helps us kick on.

 

I think he's decent just now, but has the potential to become a very good player.

 

I'd rather we moved on from Paulo. At best a bench warmers and if any of MOR or Hatate leave we need better in there.

 

I desperately want him here. He has a level above what we’ve seen from him on loan, similar to us shelling out for Eddy after his loan IMO. He’s stood up some major moments this year, and when he’s been confident he was nearly unstoppable, his confidence faded quickly though. Lasted a few games at points, but he has it in him, and he’s very competent and reliable when he’s not on top form. His base levels a 7 a week, his top is 10.

 

Don't see why we should be going overboard for someone who was effectively a squad player last season. If he wants to come then fine, he can push for it. If not, lets move on.

 

Would be nice to see some coming in with pre-season training starting very soon.
I am sure we will loses some of our quality players before the season begins.

 

He was good when he had a run of starts and made good impact sub appearances v The Huns..

It was only really the return to fitness of McGregor & Hatate that limited his game time.
