To stay on topic, I'd be disappointed if McKenna was the only senior CB we brought in this summer, but if he's brought in alongside the likes of Mepham or Clarke-Salter, that's terrific business.

I don't think he had the best time in Denmark, but I wouldn't judge him solely off a 6 month spell, he's been a PL player for years and was well rated by Forest fans.

If we don't sign him I won't cry over it, but he's underrated on here imo, I think there's still a lot of people who judge him on his Aberdeen days. He's better than the CB's we currently have at the club bar CCV.

 

Thing is Scales deserves his place in the squad, so it probably will be one CB.. unless we punt both Lagerbielke & Nawrocki.. think it may only be Lagerbielke that leaves..

 

He was only in the PL with Forest for a year and a half, only managing 25 appearances in that time.

Apart from that, I pretty much agree with you. Not a signing that would excite me much, but as long as another (better) centre back is also signed then I think this would improve overall squad depth. That said, is he going to accept coming here to be a back up? Unlikely.

I just don't get it with McKenna.

Is likely better than Scales as a CB and in defending, aye... but I don't think he'll be miles clear as a CB in defending.

Is likely better than Scales with the ball given that a lot of movement from back came from passes initiated by Scales... I've no idea.

Is as a result of being marginally better than Scales enough to bring in someone whod likely cost a decent wage?

For me, no.

But appreciate I may be in minority here.

 

We got linked a couple of years ago and the resounding reaction was '* no'. What's changed since then? His career has gone downhill, that's what, so have our standards really lowered that much?

He's *, and I'm utterly convinced he'll prove it here if we go for him.

 

I think Scales will definitely be around this season coming, new contract etc, coming off a break through season..

 

This, We need more homegrown players in the squad, just now there is too much deadwood at CB, would punt Lagerbielke and Kobayashi, loan Nawrocki to an SPFL team and sign both McKenna and Clarke-Salter which would no doubt strengthen our backline
