Just as long we're not bringing in a wad of projects and * around trying to get in Bernardo and Idah who if I'm totally honest, not overly fussed either way if they stay or go

    I'd be content with that.

Obviously * all chance we ever spend £46m in a season and * all chance we shift all of that deadwood out the door.

    But it would be nice.

Squad is decent and we could then go forward building on it

So naturally, it making sense, it's never gonna happen.

    https://www.celticway.co.uk/news/24381507.celtic-loan-players-due-return-end-june/

As Celtic stare down the Scottish summer transfer window, Brendan Rodgers is expected to reinforce the squad that clinched a traditional league and cup double last season.

With automatic qualification to the new-format UEFA Champions League, defending their Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup trophies, and, to paraphrase club captain Callum McGregor, the task of returning the League Cup to Celtic Park all on the horizon, cover in various areas of the pitch is likely to be important.

But while there will be increasingly more to talk about regarding all the latest Celtic transfer news and rumours in due course, there are also a number of players set to return from loan in the coming weeks – each of who, you'd have to imagine, will be keen to push themselves into the manager's plans for the new campaign.

From young prospects who may come knocking on Brendan Rodgers' door such as Bosun Lawal, to players who enjoyed fine form while away from the club last season like Mikey Johnston, here is every Celtic currently on loan till the end of the month, and where they've spent the last stretch of their careers playing.

It's worth noting here that while Alexandro Bernabei is on loan to Sport Club Internacional, he isn't due back until 24/12/2024.

All of the players noted below are due to return on June 30 of this year.

Some of the youngsters we've had out on loan look like they've had decent gametime. Anderson, Lawal, McPherson have had decent minutes. Others who you'd want to be closer to the first time like Kwon and Tilio have barely featured. It's a depressing state of affairs when the best loan-out we've had is arguably MJ, who probably won't make it here anyway.

If our model is to buy young players and develop them, we need a more successful approach to loans than we have. There's some good moves above but there's arguably as many players sitting around our squad drawing a wage all season than there have been out on loan.

Bain, Seigrist, lagerbeilke, kobi, Welsh, Holm, McCarthy, Yang, Oh.
Plus all of the above loaned players.
It's frightening how much deadwood, or too many projects we have.

Celtic are working through a list of defensive targets. As first reported by Mail Sport, Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham is of interest. They are also looking at 23-year-old Austrian international Flavius Daniliuc, currently in Germany preparing for the Euro finals.

Meanwhile, Roma have emerged as the latest club to take an interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The Denmark international previously attracted a bid from Atletico Madrid and they could still return to the table this summer.

Newly-promoted Southampton are also hovering, with financial fair play restrictions likely to influence who makes a move for the £25million-rated player.

Celtic have prioritised a midfielder, while Mail Sport understands that Sparta Prague’s Danish goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen is now their first choice to replace Joe Hart.

The 26-year-old former AZ Alkmaar keeper is likely to command a fee in excess of £4m
