Taylor is limited and requires upgrading. I don't want someone to come in and play 50% of the games and Taylor the other 50. Personally.

I just think it would be a bit of a weird move from us and doubt the club would sanction such a deal. Time will tell.

Absolutely noone can deny Tierneys ability.

On what level do you believe it to be an extremely stupid move?

I’m torn on whether or not i’d want him back and that is 100% down to his injury record as i don’t want to be reliant on Taylor in our big games.

Flip side to that argument is look how many Left backs we’ve signed since he left that have been totally *.

Buying a player who will miss large parts of our season seems extremely stupid to me.

Add in it will consume a fair portion of our budget and wages feels doubly so. Add to that it's money we are extremely unlikely to recoup makes it even worse.

Think I might have been too positive in my assessment in my previous post.

Fixing recruitment and scouting is the actual answer to the issue though surely?

Bringing Tierney in on loan as our LB solution just makes no sense.

    1. It's a loan so no longer term thinking.
    2. He's constantly getting injured so we'll just end up with Taylor playing half the season.

I love Tierney but it just doesn't make sense.

I'd say it's better described as risky rather than stupid. Wouldn't be stupid if he turned in his top form while staying fit the majority of the season. Do think that scenario is unlikely but having a solid, (mostly) reliable in GT as a fall back mskes it possibly a risk worth taking.

We are talking mega money for us. You’re breaking your transfer record for a guy who’s available for half the season. You’re then putting him on huge wages by our standards.

It doesn’t matter how much money we have in the bank. Every deal should be taken in isolation. Is £10m+ and £40k a week a good deal for someone who is nearly guaranteed to be injured for large parts of the season? It’s not.

If we are willing to spend £10m and £40k a week in wages for a left back, go out and find another left back. There are plenty of them about. It’s lazy and it’s a dangerous game.

Fine changing it to "too risky" if that helps :50:. I just don't think we should consider it at all is my main point.

Agree a loan doesn't make any sense either for similar reasons.

Don't think Arsenal will consider that either though. Is there talk of them allowing a loan?

You’ve changed your mind 3 times and on 2 separate issues?

First you wanted him. Then you realised it was probably more emotion. Now you want him again. Is that emotion again?

Taylor needed to be upgraded on. Now he’s fine to deputise for 50% of the season when Tierney is inevitably out.

I change my mind quite often on injury prone players. I want Tierney as of now. The timing is right

For me this isn't just about him likely not being fit for half the season, for me it's a huge amount of money on a player who I think will struggle to play regularly past 30. The risk for me is just too high.

Slightly off topic but saw a conversation recently that removing wisdom teeth is supposed to help prevent injury.

Wegner and others used to encourage injury prone players to consider it. Similar with Pilates. Wonder if Tierney looks into these sort of things given his career is likely to be shorter than most.
