I wonder if we could do what Rodgers managed to with Armstrong first time around. I don’t think they are the same type of player exactly but more similar age and build, Armstrong turned into a machine for us that season, seemed stronger, quicker and was lethal with his finishing.

If Bernardo could find that half a yard of pace and be that little stronger that allowed him to make driving runs like the cup final more often, he had the shooting ability to score a lot of goals. He could develop into a very good box to box midfielder.

 

Look at the difference in O’Riley this season. He said start of the season he had talks with Rodgers and he said he wanted O’Riley contributing more up the pitch in terms of goals and assists and boom O’Riley was the main man with goal contributions this season

A few folk like @FrankMcCallum and @Crilly have convinced me, to be honest. You're right he doesn't really have a glaring weakness (except maybe accelleration) and has obvious intelligence, mentality and technique, hard things to train. All the ingredients for a potentially top player.

 

There's definitely a player there.

Lad seems very introvert and shy. At least he's had a season to adapt to Scottish fitba before we maybe pull the trigger.

Good to hear hopefully now we can agree deals with both their current clubs and get them signed up on long term deals.

 

Hopefully we can ask the question of them if they have any other prospects looking to be loaned out. Big guy obviously loved his time here and hopefully be signed soon.

Another Jota would be nice! But seriously certainly things have gone well with Barnardo this season and Jota before so certainly a link to keep open for sure for the future.

 

I have no doubt their will be a couple of loans this season with a view to a full purchase ( try before you buy )

Loan to buy has been a really good market for us the last few years. (Except Jenz)

Also we should just get all our players from Benfica

 

Benfica have a fair few players that they may be willing to loan who we should be interested in, some may not be available to buy.

The obvious one would be Schjelderup but that would be a straight loan. I was surprised he went back to Denmark and not a better league on loan this season.

One who would be an interesting loan to buy is Jurasek, his move has totally not worked out but he looked a proper player at Slavia Prague and for the Czech national team. He would be an instant upgrade on Taylor.

 

I'm still not 100% sure either based on his inconsistency but I'm much more inclined to splurge on Bernardo than Idah given likely Oreilly exit. I'd like to think Brendan will develop him also.

If you had to post on the rumours page that we were in for Portugal's U21 captain, a creative, goalscoring midfielder for £6M we'd all be going mental to get it done.
So maybe we just should!

 

He's had a few cameos but even at our poorest he couldn't force his way into the start. He isn't a young player either so not sure how much more he is going to develop.

 

He is 22 mate plenty time to develop

 

We won't sign him for 6 million euros imo. If it's to happen we'll be looking to shave at least a couple of mill off that.
