Hmm yeh but doesn’t the first 1-8!teams in pot one cone from 1-8 top leagues in coefficient so likes of 2nd best teams in top five leagues in Europe end up in pot 2

Bologna would be a good tie

If Atalanta win either of their last 2 games then Italy will only have 5 teams in the champions league as they would leapfrog Bologna into 4th place. That spot would then go to Benfica who would get direct entry to the groups.

There’s actually a possibility of both Italy and Germany each having 6 teams in it which I agree is a total joke !! That would mean 12/36 teams in the group, one third of the teams coming from 2 countries. That should never have been agreed to but pandering to the big clubs once again

 

For Italy to have 6 you need Atalanta to come 5th, 2 points from remaining 2 games and they come 4th at worst. It all depends on how seriously they take the matches as they are essentially meaningless for them.

I also don't see Dortmund winning.

In the end we have to remember this set up was made to stop the Super League. We may get more money but it wasn't designed to help Celtic or teams of our status. If a team who as already qualified for the CL wins a European competition it should drop down to Champions from the 11th best country.

 

Thank * we aren’t in same situation as Polish champions.
They won their league for 1st time in 103 year history but may not be allowed to play in the 2nd rd qualifiers.
This is because their nearest airport is 210km away and UEFA rules state UEFA teams must have an airport a maximum of 200km away. So they could be banned because of 10km (6.2miles)

I don't think that's an unfair rule. Teams having to fly to get there then a 200km bus journey.

They will be allowed to rent another clubs ground and play in that though.

Gotta agree! Not the club's fault, but there are literally thousands of people travelling to each home game, and if there's no airport there's a pretty good chance the entire infrastructure around them would be shaky too... I mean, if they'd no airport but a high-speed train line right to them I'm sure they'd have appealed... The days of 3 day bus trips to Europe are long gone...
