That’s not surprising he hasn’t had a sniff since Idah came in. Probably best for all parties, hopefully we get as much of our money back as possible.

Is that guy not renowned for talking nonsense? I am sure guys like Sam Robson and Dan Orlowitz used to say that about him.

Urawa do seem to be bigger spenders in that league but it would take a very big bid way beyond J league standards for that to happen.

Aye he's got 3 years left on his deal....would take a massive offer for us to even think about it.
Unless Rodgers fancies another main guy up top in the mould of a dembele...which I feel idah would be

They don't actually spend much in Japan. Unless our board have lost the plot and are willing to sell Kyogo for something like £5 million he ain't going back to Japan yet.

No chance he goes back already..

Possibly at the end of next season he may move on but no necessarily to Japan..

I've been worried about him leaving fora while, really don’t want him to, but i just don’t think he suits Rodgers’ style of play, unless we bring in the players that will help him in Rodgers’ system. Please stay wee man

See the mail online are running with a story on it tonight too. They seem to be talking a lot about Urawa and their plans as if they have knowledge of them. Might just be nonsense.

Talks up they are keen to build a team to win the J league and see Kyogo because he is a home grown player as a top target. Willing to break the J league record of £10m to land him but we would need a bid well in excess of that to sell according to the article.

KYOGO FURUHASHI could be set for a shock departure from Celtic this summer after being lined up for a stunning move back to Japan

The 29-year-old striker has been targeted by Urawa Red Diamonds in an ambitious move to lure Kyogo back to his homeland.

Now the richest club in Japan, Urawa are willing to break the current J-League transfer record in order to get their man.

The current record stands at £10million, so any bid to sign Furuhashi would need to be well in excess of that figure.

A firm fans’ favourite throughout his three years in Glasgow, he is also under contract until 2027 having signed a new deal last summer. But reports in Japan claim that Urawa have placed Furuhashi at the top of their list as they look to build a team capable of winning the J-League

They signed Norwegian forward Ola Solbakken on loan from Roma in January but he looks set to leave amid interest from Swedish champions Malmo. That would leave a significant hole in Urawa’s squad and they are keen to fill it with a homegrown player

They could be set to test Celtic’s resolve with a blockbuster bid at some point over these next few weeks.

After being signed by Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2021, Furuhashi enjoyed a couple of outstanding seasons at Celtic.

But he struggled to have the same impact after the arrival of Brendan Rodgers last summer, with 19 goals in all competitions representing his poorest season in Glasgow.

Celtic would be under no obligation to sell and there is no suggestion that the player himself has yet been agitating for a move.

However, if Celtic can secure a fee well in excess of £10m, they might well consider that good value for a player who will turn 30 next season. All the more so given that Furuhashi was signed for just £4.5m three years ago.

Rodgers has already stated his ambition to put his own stamp on this Celtic squad in the summer.

There were times last season when Rodgers faced criticism over how he used the forward, with fans claiming that he wasn’t getting the best out of the Japanese striker.

The Celtic boss refuted those claims and insisted that Furuhashi wasn’t being asked to play any differently then he had been under Postecoglou.

No chance he's heading back home yet.

Fully think his intention when signing last year was to play a few more years with us then return.

Another year at least with us I reckon.

I've said before there is no point getting too attached to players. Other than a few exceptions, McGregor, Brown etc, they will always put themselves first. If Kyogo wants to leave and the fee suits the club then fine. Great goalscorer but at 29, he has probably peaked. Has had a few injuries as well. Rodgers might see it as the right time to get some money in for him and invest in new forwards.
