Can't even describe how happy I am for the big man ending his career like that. One of my all time favourite Celts. Love you big man.

 

Wasn't sure on him when he came in.

But * me it hurt yesterday knowing that was his last game for us. Been a great servant for us during his time here. Yes he's had his * ups, but on the whole he's been more than sound for us.

And what a leader the big man is, his presence in the dressing room and on the pitch will be missed.

He came up from England, and he got it big time!!! Once a Celt always a Celt.

You'll always be welcome back at Paradise big man. Good luck for the future.

Him letting us know months ago was how to do it properly. Yesterday was still bittersweet but we all knew exactly what was happening.

Compare and contrast to last season's Scottish Cup final V Inverness when there was a certain other Celtic employee who's future was up in the air. Ange had us all guessing and doubting, desperately trying to read his body language for clues. In the months and weeks prior he went as far as stirring that sense of uncertainty - "You'd be surprised how long I'm here".

Good on for him going out like this. Seeing some people saying they’d love it if he changed his mind and stayed. Find that mental tbh.

37 now. Time for him to move on and us to get someone younger. All that would happen if he stayed was he’d regress (naturally) and we’d start to get * off because we didn’t replace him etc.

Perfect time to go.

 

Imagine being told you're not good enough as back up keeper, then going and winning 7 trophies and playing 2 Champions Leagues in 3 years.

 

Love the big man, wish him and his fsmily all the best.

On a side note, he got booked, but thought Walsh now cancelled it, I thought it was for Raskin and that's why I thought he not been booked already? Still says Hart got booked though.

 

Right get him moved to ex-players..

 

Aye he's picked the right time to retire. Hope he sticks with that decision.

It does look like he could do another year or two, but I want to believe he's doing this for the right reasons, to go out a winner and on top.

He's been a lost player before coming to us, he's then round a new home and family. Go out now while you're on that high. He's proved himself and any doubters.


All the best Joe, loved watching him here and he brought so much to us.

As you say, welcome back any time and hope he does come to see games and take part in behind scenes stuff when possible.

He'll be remembered for more than that Paul. Aye he's been a good keeper for us, but his character and influence far outweighs any technical stuff he done. He's one of the greatest characters we've had imo, almost on a par with the likes of Tommy Burns, wee Bertie etc.

 

Agreed! I loved Joe, but he's been brilliant for us and those gents have been LEGENDS!

 

I already miss him

 

I do agree that he's picked the perfect time to call it, he easily could go another 2/3 years, but you couldn't ask for a better end to your career.

He deserves it, after he left City it looked like his career would continually go downhill, instead he's went out as amazing as you possibly could.

Would be doing all we could to try and keep him on in some sort of coaching role, but if City want him for one of their positions you'd be mad to turn that down.
