Height is extremely overrated in most positions in the modern game. Many of the worlds best LB's and RB's are midgets fs. As said before, Taylor is not getting targeted because of his height. He is getting targeted because he is *. I would bring this guy in.

You can be 5”8 and still be a top fullback. There’s a lot of them.

He’s absolutely not ‘*’ and their targeting has worked that well we won the league and are on for a double.

They maybe want to look at their tactics and adjust accordingly.

    * might be hard mate, but he is by far our weakest link when it comes to regulars. By far. I would keep him as 2nd choice though.

I like that you're attempting to stick up for him... but he is *. Every single team we play, regardless of the competition have identified the GT as a weakness.

I disagree. It’s actually the guy one in from him and coincidentally that’s why teams started to target the left side.

I’m not sticking up for him I’m giving my opinion and that is that if you think GT is * you are clueless.

Ok then, I'll double down - he's woeful for the system that's being asked of him, both under Ange and Rodgers. More often than not Maeda and Scales both have to consistently cover for him- i'd argue to the detriment of Scales at times, Maeda has the legs to manage it.

We attempted to replace him, so far recruitment has let us down - you can only pish with the * you've got. Otherwise he's out.

He was one of our best players under Ange and has been solid under Rodgers.

He’s a squad leader, consistent and a winner. Does he lack certain things we generally look for in a full back? Aye. But does he also get a huge amount of unwarranted flak? Also 100% aye.

Ange effectively moved him position due to his shortcomings. I agree some of the criticism he receives can be OTT, but he's the weak link in the side.

Nah, GT adapted to Ange’s system not the other way around.

Are you being deliberately awkward? :56:

GT played in Ange’s system, ergo adapted his playing style to his managers tactics. If it wasn’t GT playing inverted full back it would have been someone else within the squad. Ange adapted nothing for GT, in particular.

It just so happened he excelled within that as he worked hard on improving the aspects of his game he lacked. He’s not a bombing forward overlapping assist machine but he is a a solid, reliable and consistent possession based footballer and it works.

I want and have wanted proper competition for him and a different type of left back for the last 2 windows. That remains for the summer. I don’t particularly GAF about height as most do but I’d love what Berna was advertised as - an overlapping good crosser with an excellent engine who’s tenacious in the tackle. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for either.

As much as some of your points about Taylor above are true, i want more than just competition. I want a ready made starter to come in and for Taylor to be adequate backup..

I hope that’s the case for the entire team, that’s the only way you progress - to look for better players in every position.

Agreed but some more than others and as well as Taylor's done overall for us.....it's a position we're badly needing no only strengthening depth wise, but quality also..

It is hard to get the perfect player. I'd be happy if Azarovi has positional intelligence and bravery to defend competently, in addition to pace and dribbling. I suppose replacing Scales with a tall, if slow, monster CB can help us in the air.

Wait you see that changing soon, with Pep playing CB’s in Ake and now Gvardiol as traditional sorta fullbacks. Seeing it already, Dortmund’s right back over 6’0 in the CL final for one.
