I think he would regret it if he left now. 1 more season. Hopefully we will FINALLY get our fingers out this Summer and get some higher calibre players, with who Matt would shine. After a proper shot at CL and possibly Europa go for the big money somewhere else.

 

Imagine giving POTY to a lump of wood like Shankland over a player of O'Riley's class.

O'riley has the intelligence to know that when he leaves, this kind of feeling will be few and far between. He is still Young and will back himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to stay one more season. Unfortunately it will come down to the club accepting a bid and he will be gone.

 

I think if he's to move on, it's best it happens in a summer. Can you imagine the impact losing a player like him would have mid-season? Brutal.

He's the sort of player we should be going all out to keep. We don't need the money.

His attitude is top notch, he won't be the sort to force a move, and we have guaranteed CL football again next year. He's still young as well at 23.

Give him what he wants wage wise and build the team around him.

I know he's much more likely to leave in the summer, and you can't blame him when teams like Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are interested in him, but managing to keep him would be the biggest statement we've made in years.

 

Be great to get another season out him.

Offer him a new 5 year deal £30k a week, £1million bonus, £30million release clause and he can get another £2million bonus off that if someone pays it. That would mean he could earn about £4.5million for staying 1 more year and someone buying him next summer.

Something like that and the CL could tempt him, 3 seasons of CL football at 23 plus plenty of money for staying 1 extra year.

 

He isn't staying, someone will come in and pay a lot for him. He's going to become something very special.

He has a couple of good performances at the Euros and we get 30m plus easy.

O”Riley is an extremely intelligent boy. I think he’ll want to wait til after the euros to see what opportunities come about for himself and that will work perfectly for us. Guaranteed bidding war.

Matt’s done everything to give us joy and success since he’s been here. I’d hope we don’t stand in the way of him moving somewhere he wants by pricing him out. £25m with add ons or £30m all in would be a fair price to ask. And a price any “big/rich” club would lose down the sofa.

2 more big performances like that and he’s a hero.

 

Im not convinced that he will leave. He seems to be a very smart guy. Economically it is the right moment to sell to get the most out of him, but i care less about money these days. If the board showed a lot of ambition after we sold players like Tierney, VVD etc, then i would be more comfortable, but they wont spend more because they earn 25 million on a key player.

IF we sell, this is the year we should bury the huns and go out spending about 35 million on players. Because we will be absolutely * loaded with cash with CL money and Matt money.

 

I predict he'll have an international breakthrough in the Euros and help Denmark reach the later stages of the tournament. His stock will be so high that it'll be impossible for us to keep him around.

Whatever we sell him for, he'll be worth more to us than the fee we get. His contribution on and off the field is invaluable.
