I've just had a wee look to see who Valles has been linked with and it says his contract runs until the summer of 2025. He signed a new one year extension in January there, which is disappointing. That being said, with only a year left on his contract, I think we should be all over him. At 26, he's the best of both worlds. Not old, where we can only get a 2/3 years out him and not too young, where inexperience can sometimes hamper you.

He's also played against some of the biggest clubs in the world, domestically. Would be a no brainer, for me. Transfermarkt has him at £12.5m valuation. I think we could get him for much less than that, given he's only got a year on his deal. Las Palmas have only sold 2 players over £10m, Pedri to Barcelona for £19m and Roque Mesa to Swansea for £10.5m. I can't see him going for that much, especially with the length of contract he has left.

Looking at the bosmans right now, you could make a full team with them and they would be very * competitive.

    GK- Koen Casteels(Wolfsburg)
    LB- Sergi Cardona(Las Palmas)
    CB- Janik Vestergaard(Leicester)
    CB- Scott Mckenna(Nottingham Forest)
    RB- Ola Aina(Nottingham Forest)
    DM- Ibrahima Sissoko(Strasbourg)
    CM- Leandro Barreiro(Mainz)
    CM- Denis Praet(Leicester)
    RW- Tyrhys Dolan(Blackburn)
    ST- Sekou Koita(Salzburg)
    LW- Roger(Braga)

That is a pity didn’t realise he must have had a years option. There is a lot of that, Dolan and Aina on that list definitely do too. I think Forrest have said they want to keep Aina or he would be a cracking signing.

Remember bosman signings aren't strictly free, you do end up paying a premium in agent fees and signing bonuses etc when getting them. I do think we should be looking at them though it would be stupid not to.

For those who are in love.....
So for me I'd like to see something like this with what's happening

    Hart's away, Siegrist to go
New number 1, a better number 2, Bain

Don't think we'll get a right back but Johnston has me debating whether we should improve on him
New right back or Johnston? Ralston

Lagerbielke sold, Nawrocki loaned or preferably just sold, Kobayashi bye
New centre half to play beside Carter-Vickers, another good challenger, Scales and then Welsh

Bernabei away anywhere, Frame good loan to top flight club
New dynamic left back, Taylor as backup

I think O'Riley will go and Hatate, Bernardo won't be back, McCarthy away, Holm loaned out, Kwon don't care, Kelly loan to top flight club, Lawal loan to top club
2 new top centre mids in at a minimum, a loan to buy preferably as one of them..

Yang out on loan, Forrest maybe away,
Need a top quality right winger with Kuhn as backup

Mikey sold, Haksabanovic same, Tilio don't care
Maeda, Palma probably doesn't need anything there

Oh sold, Idah probably no back

Kyogo, would like a reply good player to come in and challenge Kyogo but with different attributes and maybe a loan to buy younger type..

Looking at 5 minimum starters needed for me

    Keeper we all knows happening
A better left back which I'm sure we'll be targeting this time
A centre half to go beside Carter-Vickers is blatantly obvious considering the goals we've conceded
A right winger as we've had to play Forrest because of his experience (and quality to be fair), plus no being able to rely on the others
A top quality centre mid who can boss a game and has physicality and athleticism, as well as creativity. Would really like a couple, even if Hatate stays as we don't have anyone similar to him either..

Quite a bit of work needing done..

Would be nice if we had some quality pre contract agreements lined up already and could spend some serious money elsewhere, with a couple of loan to buys for some top talents at elite clubs needing a chance..

Should bring in 2 coaches. One for penalties and one for free kicks (Naka)

    Replace all of the keepers.
Strengthen the defence but make sure big, strong and fast.
Bring in a couple of midfielders.
Bring in a couple of attackers.
Get rid of a few useless * from the current team.
Bring on a couple of the B team.

Brendan Rodgers insists planning is well under way to make Celtic a more formidable force after admitting the squad isn't as strong as he wanted this season - but revealed he isn’t losing sleep over the prospect of losing Matt O’Riley.

The Hoops are on the brink of three in a row with just a point needed to clinch the Scottish Premiership - or a Rangers slip up against Dundee later tonight - and the mega millions that will come with guaranteed entry to the group stage of the revamped and most lucrative ever Champions League.

Asked how far he is down the road to growing the squad for next season, the Parkhead boss said: “We have to do that. That’s pretty clear. But I’m really excited about that moving forward into a real bright future with the club. This season has been a real challenge, the squad openly not as strong as I would have liked it to have been but what the players have given me to this point has been absolutely brilliant. But our job next year is to be stronger, much stronger and that’s something that’s well underway.”

Celtic booted out a bid in January from Atletico Madrid for the club’s Player of the Year O’Riley and the Spaniards are linked with a summer move along with other top European clubs but Rodgers said: “We don’t have to sell. We’re not in a position to do that but of course if something comes in then - like it happens at Celtic - it will always be looked at

But there’s not a need to sell. Matt has had an absolutely brilliant season and it’s great testament to his professionalism and how he’s developed as a football player and naturally those players will attract attention and if you’ve done well and at a club with this status and pressure then naturally the attention will come but it’s not something I lose sleep about

Already buzzing to see who we bring in man, things have clearly been sorted out behind the scenes so Rodgers will be given full control, rather than messing about with the Mark Lawwell way of doing things. We don't have the time to fine tune that kind of setup and hopefully the bosses realise that now.

Be amazing if we could pull off a couple of high-level signings that get everyone buzzing. Not easy as there will be so much competition over multiple better leagues, but it can be done all things going well.

    Excited!

Good that he's re-emphasising the squad was weaker than he wanted before the leagues even officially wrapped up..

It does give me hope. Surely he wouldn't stay around if he was * over again.....surely..

He's done his bit in the end and hasn't been backed nearly enough for my or his liking which he's practically told us more than once now..

Get a real structure in place, back him and let's aim to compete better in Europe with quality signings and depth. Do that and domestically takes care of itself anyway..

You must be at it.. :56:

What exactly has been sorted out behind the scenes, we sacked Lawwell Jnr - Head of Scouting and Recruitment and our Head First Team Scout Joe Dudgeon, 1st of March. And haven't replaced them, inexcusable...

There is no plan leading into the summer as of yet, our footballing infrastructure especially Recruitment and Scouting needs a massive overhaul.

    We need a DoF..

Recruitment shouldn't fall to any manager, especially with someone with such a patchy record as Rodgers.

It's been sorted out in the sense that the recruitment team wasn't the right fit for Rodgers, so they have been let go and Rodgers is in control of who we bring in. Whereas before he had agreed to work to Mark Lawwell's setup and it didn't work out.

That misalignment was what caused all the issues, and now it has been sorted out. Not that difficult really?

You calmed down after Saturday yet? When by your own admission you were still angry an hour after almost clinching the league and beating the huns :56:. Strange behaviour.

    Another genius comment :giggle1:

Your put downs are getting worse instead of better murph.

And aye, I was annoyed after the game as we let the * off the hook. Then went and done a 4 hour shift in the pub singing for a hundred-odd jubilant fans. It was * glorious :50:

The positions we need sorted are obvious. The new players need a bit of height, pace and experience (European level).

That's what we need to blend in with the rest of the squad.

So you think Rodgers can deliver what we need in recruitment, without a DoF/Head or Recruitment and Scouting and after sacking our main first team Scout too?

No modern football club operates that way, even if Rodgers was adept at identifying targets. Which there's not a lot of evidence of.

He was allowed to bring in Congerton last time and that was a disaster.

We need put the correct structure in place to help the manager. Its really, not that difficult.

See Hibs just appointed Malky Mackay as sporting director.

I think we'll see a very positive influence from there new Bournemouth board there.

A route I think we should be going down as well. Streamline our football operations, which would certainly aid our scouting and recruitment side.
