We definitely need a big clear out.

As I said to @Lewis Kerr earlier, there'll be a few positions that we need but I don't think we get. Most glaring is RB, but I don't think there's any chance we go for one while we have both Johnston and Ralston. CDM another, and even then as much as we need a winger, I think the only way we sign one is if 2 of our wingers leave, Yang will go out on loan likely but we'd need to shift one of Palma/Kuhn on as well, not beyond the realms of possibility Palma leaves but I don't see it.

GK, LB, CB, CM (2 if O'Riley leaves and we don't sign Bernardo) and a ST are all vital this summer. Would like a CDM, Winger and a RB alongside that but that'll likely be for the January window.

Hopefully we actually act in a professional manner unlike last summer and January. There’s spade loads of cash available, we all know that. Nobody is expecting us to spend £15-20m on players, but there’s absolutely no excuses for not bringing in 3 or 4 players around the £8-10m mark. Because we will also see someone leave for big money. O’Riley would be the one I’d expect. So that will be upwards of £20m brought in. We have got away with one big time this year as we have a top manager who has seen us over the line. Now give him proper backing.

CL Windfall, at least £20 million for O'Riley (Likely £25 million), 30% of the profit from the sale of Frimpong (Could easily be between £8-£12 million)

There is absolutely zero excuse this season. There wasn't an excuse last season either but it's even more evident this year.

With money in the bank and through player sales.

Our net spend will be minimal but we really should be going out there and spending £50 mill because of what we have already and what we are likely to receive as someone is going to be sold

£50m in transfer fees if you include the O’Riley sale is surely possible, but ONLY if we massively cut down our squad size and wage bill

There’s a huge amount of dross that’ll be on decent wages. It’s just as important as signing improvements that we can get rid of these players too

I thought last season when Rodgers got the gig we would back him heavily by our standards. That was reinforced when we got 25m up front for Jota.

Even again by our stands i was surprised to see the level of player brought in, and the fact not 1 player would nail down a starting role in most peoples starting 11 for next season, is a flavour of how their first season was with us.

Again this coming transfer window with the champions league money now confimed i expect heavy investment. Again like last season i expect to lose a top player for huge money.

This year i hope we go out and sign the 7 or so players from a far higher standard. No more projects, i dont mind if 2 or even 3 are loan to buy, but i want the 4 or so we sign perm to be upgrades staight away. Is that asking too much...maybe!

People keep mentioning that we'll be getting CL money, as if it's some sort of transfer kitty panacea... I don't think we've ever come close to spending the money we get from Europe, as the board count that towards running costs of the club as a whole. It's pretty clear our business model is to spend what we get from transfers, and not even all of that...

If as expected Matt goes, there's a boost from Frimpong, we spend some of the leftover from Jota, we would see probably a MAXIMUM of about £40M available for players, and I'm kinda laughing to myself that we'd even spend that. Even though it's clearly there to do so... Our board just REFUSE to apply the resources we have at our disposal for the football side of things.

We essentially done that under Ange in his first window.

    GK- Hart
    RB- JJ
    CB- CCV
    CB- Starfelt
    RW- Abada
    ST- Kyogo
    LW- Jota

Then we brought in O'Riley and Hatate the window after, with Maeda. We also made signings that should never have been signed like Urgohide, Shaw and McCarthy.

You're happy clapping is beyond rank.

I don't think anyone is expecting £40m anyway.

£25-30m spent wisely would do it.

    That's 4-6 players at 5-6m each.
Assuming no one leaves from the starting 11, that would massively improve the calibre and quality of the squad as a whole.

Unfortunately Hart is retiring and MOR is likely to leave. So there will need to be an element of making sure we do spend that very wisely.
But when then, that's a big step up for us in quality. If done right.

Thank * we have a recruitment team sorted....

Someone like Denis Praet, Rodgers worked with him at Leicester and he's had a very decent career.

That bit of experience from an older head to stop us loosing our cool when only leading by 1. Its an issue someone like that could fix imo.

If we hadn’t carried on like a pub team this season we wouldn’t need that much business done.

There's no hiding from it this summer.

The club and Lawwell literally apologised for what happened in the January window.

There's no excuses. We say it every year but with us almost doubling the money we already have in the bank never mind what we've made or will make from player sales, cmon.

The goalie situation is worrying, a poor keeper can derail your season. Especially with us as, if the fans don't trust him and start to turn it'll bring nerves to games.

We should be sticking with an experienced keeper whos played at the top level who we know won't bottle it, Hart going also is probably a huge dressing room character and a leader so that will be a hole needing filled.

Not played at the level of Pratt but Otar Kiteishvili is someone I would look at for the Mooy role. He is a versatile two footed mainly attacking midfielder but can also play deeper. Has not long turned 28, plenty of caps for Georgia and played most of his senior career in Austrian Bundesliga for a title challenging team.

He is fairly small in stature but actually has superb defensive contribution numbers for someone in an attacking midfield position, has that Hatate like ability to shift the ball between his feet and just leave opponents for dead with quick acceleration off the mark.

In recent weeks Sturm Graz have the chance to win a first title in ages and he seems to be trying his best to drag them over the line and stepping up to score the goals.

He also much like Hatate has the ability to pull out the odd cracking strike from outside the box.

I think he would be a great option to have not to necessarily start every game but to start some and come off the bench if requiring a goal in games.

He is available on a bosman and reported to earn around £6-8k a week just now so could be easily be affordable and give us some depth at centre midfield where if we lose O’Riley and don’t sign Bernardo, we will need a few additions.

There are still some very good Bosman options out there that would help us rebuild our squad and concentrate our budget on spending £5m+ on 4 or 5 players.

Alvaro Valles, Las Palmas Keeper would be a great pick up for a sweeper keeper who is also a good shot stopper.

Martin Frese or Sergi Cardona would be good upgrades at left back.

McKenna would help with home grown players and is a left sided centre back.

O’Hare from Coventry is another creative centre midfielder who could be a Joe Ledley esq. pick up.

I am sure there will be others worth a look and it then allows us to bring in 4 or 5 guys in, like the Gronbaeks, Miovski and others we have all been crying out to push the boat out for.

Winning this league has Guaranteed a minimal €45m even if we get beat in all CL games the time you take tickets in and if we can get a couple of wins out of the eight games we likely make the playoff phase and its worth about €12m more.

Being honest the €45m minimum more than we got this year with ticket sales as we made probably slightly more with ticket sales but it means three years of CL football in a row something I am not sure we have done before?
