I don't think Rodgers will stand for it tbh, they either back him properly and show a bit of ambition or he will be offski.

Aye, the changes needed are bigger than Rodgers though. I just have no faith in them to get that right. Desmond and Lawwell, are footballing dinosaurs.

A club of our stature should not be afraid to spend 10 million on the right player for the club, just being ahead of them is not good enough, if this club is to gro and take our place at the top table when we should be playing in Europe after Xmas on a regular basis.
Really is time for the directors to grow a pair so the manager is backed and we have the facilities and stadium that we deserve.

I suppose we will soon see if Rodgers deems the board have altered course to his liking. Mark Lawwell is off, but that on its own is not enough.

Shifting our tory board is the ONE thing that will allow us to grow and come into the 21 century football. No more jobs tor the boys * if we want to progress at all as a club we have to get all our fans on board united in getting the * removed otherwise this time next season the huns will be a few points behind us like today. I guarantee you they wont back rogders next season. * . HH

We've got the right manager in place, the Board have to back him, stop stockpiling cash and invest in the product on the park.

Never mind all this talk about Rodgers ability to develop a player and we maybe could've been braver in the transfer market, forget that * and go out and get real quality that will improve us as a team.

I'd rather have an uninspiring manager backed by a board of actual Celtic fans than this pointless groundhog day. Rodgers will never be backed by any board with Bankier and P. Lawwell in it.

The board will be feeling very smug today.. it's completely win win for them. They won the league and they done it on the cheap. After essentially two wasted transfer windows.. oriley fee will be the cherry on the top during the summer and we will rinse and repeat. Our inconsistency also created a title race that has played out across the media over the past 3 months. Board took a massive gamble and it's played out exactly how they would have wanted.
Is anyone even thinking we should be spending that type of money on individual players?

I get the impression it's more 5 - 10 million range people are hoping we operate in, with 3 - 4 players in that range and good scouting setup to build and maintain a team round them.

Although I guess, to answer my own point, maybe that areas gone when you see Idah at £5m and Bernardo supposedly 6 - 9m with add ons.
Nope. Agree with your post here.

I find it weird how many fans still go on about "oh but we're in a tough position, we can't attract those types of players" etc. It's just an excuse to give the board/recruitment team a pass.

We've found plenty of cracking players on a budget. In the squad right now we have MOR, Hatate, and Kyogo who were signed for a combined total of probably £8m? Pennies.

It all comes down to recruitment, and it's the same for every club in the world. Of course some players you can scout and scout and they just won't adapt. That can happen. But we're obviously not doing our due diligence or scouting extensively enough when we bring in guys like Yang, Kwon, Lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Bernabei and so on.

When it comes to more expensive signings, we can attract plenty. Jota, CCV, Jullien and Edouard are recent examples. There's loads out there, but our scouting set up has to be first class to unearth them. And it should be.

It's the same drivel I've read loads on here with people saying how it's impossible to sign a goalie who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, and capable of making saves, on our budget. Just a total lack of understanding.

I’m a bit worried about recruitment over the summer.

It feels like we have nothing in place. It’s like last season it’s Mark Lawwell and he makes an absolute mess of it, now we’re starting with a blank slate and need to get everything organised.

It just feels to me like we rely on agents to float young players to us with the deals more or less in place. It’s crazy we don’t have a recognised structure in place over all these years and all this income.

Anyone know how much we’d be likely to have in the bank available next season? Am I wrong or have we between 70-80m now and then were due to get between 50-60m for ucl? So at a minimum 120 million. Then is there more we would be bringing in from revenue etc or would that be it before potential transfers? Mental money for us. Surely with that we would have no problem having a transfer budget of 50 million (I know we won’t) before even selling players as even after spending say 50 million we’d still have 70 * million sitting there. I know it’s not all about spending money but for me to progress in Europe which was Rodgers goal when he first came here we need to invest money into transfers and wages on quality players

I’m not overly worried about the amount we spend, just want them to sign the right profile of player this time round. We don’t need 6 or 7 u23s with barely a season under their belts in lesser leagues.

A couple of players like that is fine, but how about a couple that have some experience too? Or higher profile prospects that cost a bit more rather than spread betting?

We don’t need to measure every signing based on how much profit we might make on them in a few years. It’s fine to buy a good player and not make anything on them. We act like that’s a failure sometimes.

I think a couple of good players will leave and we'll recruit projects / cheapos just to stay slightly ahead of deadco in order to keep the title race interesting. I just can't see them backing rodgers, hope I'm wrong though.

With this board nothing surprises me ! But for Peter lawwell to stand and say they made a mistake and basically * opinion January then that’s new, I think we might see Rodger’s get more or the type and calibre of player he wants. The little scare we had with maybe throwing the league will have the board on there toes !
