If he plays rest of matches this season he will be 4 short of 500 appearances. On 492 at moment.Looking at next season’s schedule he could complete that feat just before League phase of Champions League starts.

James Forrest is looking to land a new Celtic contract next season as he hopes to finish his career at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Forrest has enjoyed a recent upturn in fortunes at Celtic Park after overcoming his previous injury issues

The Scotland international knows his chances of earning a new deal will depend on his form next season and whether or not he picks up any major new injuries.

The 32-year-old winger’s current contract with the Glasgow club is set to run until June 2025

It’s been quite the comeback for Forrest at Celtic in recent weeks after forcing his way back into Brendan Rodgers’s starting lineup.

The Scotsman has scored four goals in his past six appearances, two of which came in the 2-1 victory over Dundee on 28 April.

The winger had scored just twice in his previous 19 games, leading to questions being asked about his long-term future at Celtic Park.

Football Insider previously revealed MLS clubs were interested in signing Forrest after he’d lost his place in the starting lineup under Rodgers.

The situation has now changed dramatically over the past few weeks, with the Celtic boss claiming Forrest is the “best winger” at the club

If he can maintain his form over the coming weeks and take it into next season, the Hoops academy product is likely to be in with a good chance of seeing his deal extended.

But that will also largely be dependent on his fitness as he approaches the latter stages of his career following his previous injury woes

Bit of a nothing article that.

He’s got another year, he should be here for that now and then revisit end of next season.

Aye, not even a quote. Sure if he feels fit and is contributing it's possibly something he'd like. Who wouldn't, and why wouldn't we if his contribution is similar to this season.

But as you say one that is for next year not this.

Just a great footballer. Wish our younger wingers had his intelligence and technique.

Been some revival for him at the tail end of this season. A major reason for our resurgence which I never thought I'd say.

This season from him is what you call a ‘one last dance’ season.

He was always going to be remembered extremely fondly as a Celtic player but to help turn us back around this season the way he has is a force multiplier. It’s what so many players fail to do in their fading days, and there was a time many seasons ago it looked like Forrest wasn’t going to be the type of man to do it.

This should be his last season because it is the icing on the cake. A terrific contribution from a Celtic great.

He was really up for that today. Had a very strong game. Tried to force the shot a couple of times but very positive, played like someone who was making the most of a chance he probably didn’t think he would get a month ago.

His football intelligence is excellent. Great attacking display.

Only gripe is I thought he left AJ exposed for their goal

Good first half, but poor for their goal. Didn't support Johnston.

Really went out early and showed intent. Really bit part of why we dominated them first half. Could sense he was really looking to get a goal today, just a pity it didn't happen.

Fair play to Jamsie he was excellent today. Probably the best I've seen him play against a sevco or rangers team.

He tries to make things happen everytime he gets the ball. Even without that much pace he is a constant menace to full backs. Did another good job today.
