What type of player is he? his stats don't look like much although maybe none of Mothwerwells players do but he doesn't seem to do much defensive or going forward. Good in the air it seems which would be a bonus for us though.

But would he have the skill and that to play where Hatate does and do much or would he just be on the bench for years.

I'd be happy to bring him in but I'd send him straight back on loan, he could still be homegrown that way. Although if we bring him straight in then he can become club grown.

Mad that plenty of fans were foaming at the thought of Lewis Ferguson and now he wins a top award in Italy. This quite simply shows we are behind the curve when it comes to identifying SPFL potential. There are more than a few players in the league that wouldn't cost the earth, already know the league and are up to the physical aspect and in Rodgers a manager that we know can develop players.

Lewis was always talented enough to play for us its just the fact he’s a dirty hun * that made fans not want him

We've had plenty of huns playing for us. Fans would warm to him soon enough if he was doing it on the park.

Mate, we’ve all seen satsumas less orange than that roaster. There was no way he was ever signing for us. Would probably rather have played for literally any other team, stark naked, with the corner flag up his backside.

Possibly true, but the same, and possibly more, was said of Scott Brown until he signed. All changed from there.

His old boy on Open Goal wasn’t of that opinion, when he got asked about the possibility if an offer was there and he thought it was the best for his career it wouldn’t be an issue for him or his family.

But he was also wanting a move outwith SPFL or lower leagues of England. Boys a top professional, if we made the right offer, and he thought it’d improve him more as a player than going where he did it was possible. However, nobody at our club or the fans wanted the move to happen, I suggested it and the general opinion at the time is he wasn’t all that good.

Rangers both the club employees and their rabid * were of the same opinion. Now with what he’s done hindsight has kicked in.

Away: Broony’s uncle wasn’t a Hun hero, nor his dad a Hun player. Folk who grew up supporting Rangers (and Broony has never admitted he did; I’ve only ever heard him claim he supported Hibs) and have played for us are generally a different kettle of fish than someone absolutely steeped in their culture like the Fergusons are.
Honestly more comparable to the prospect of Lafferty pulling on the Hoops, or Jimmy Bell deciding to be our kit man for a change. I honestly think only desperation (in the form of lack of better options for progression) might have turned his head to play for us. Other than that, I don’t see it. This isn’t like Dalglish, Forrest, et al. Our fans literally threw stuff at his uncle.

Idk man. I’ve always rated him (as a professional as well as a player, like you say), and most Hun fans I know were keen on him signing for them.
I’ve just said this above, but I basically think the only thing that would have swung him our way is if he couldn’t get a better move. That’s what I read into Derek’s ‘if it’s best for his career’ line.

Was astonishingly close to, WGS tried to sign him in two windows. Rangers ‘gazumped’ us after we deemed his fee not worth it and they paid it and he signed there.

He was all on board for signing.

Not being a bawbag here, but is there any evidence of that? I was never convinced at the time. Always thought his agent was stringing us along to see if the Huns would come in.

At the time I was bringing up that we should go for him, and Huns I’ve talked to round that time, and its anecdotal evidence just * I know so might be skewed opinion and with our fans just one or two * on here who replied - but don’t think anycunt particularly rated him.

Serie A interest was there for a good bit though, hence the outwith Scotland comments I think. He was always wanting Italy as soon as the option was available. Can’t criticise that choice either. Hickey done the same, we don’t have a good track record of signing promising Scottish SPFL players lately and them getting the chance. Same with the Huns.

Think Lennon Miller us getting back on track on the thread - same thing will be there now, he’s been linked to Italy, to England, to places that he’ll look at developing at a smaller team he’ll play with nowhere near the same pressure but at a much higher level. I’m desperate for us to sign this boy though, he’s going to be exceptional I think.

Only Strachan talking about it. I think it was Owen Coyle that had him at Burnley who said the same as well. But never anything outwith an off the cuff comment.

Football players will go where’s best for their career, money and club wise, even if they’re rabid *. And Lafferty is absolutely that. Lewis Ferguson isn’t so much that from what the noise was around him, he’s one that wants to be as much as he can be for his ability as a footballer. Aye all offers being equal, he’d go there first no doubt, but all offers being equal and the option of Serie A on less money than us or the Huns. He’d have went abroad still, just judging from what his Da’s said

So you are saying he would have played for us. Glad we agree :50:.

I was under the impression it was common knowledge Broony supported them? Certainly he got similar treatment when he played against us to the Ferguson's before signing because many thought that. He was certainly perceived by the fan base too, and when he signed all I can remember is no one cared either way. He may well be a Hibs supporter. I don't really care, what team, if not Celtic, a player supports, as long as they give their all.

Never really minded either of the Ferguson's I'd add.

Brown has maintained adamantly that he grew up a Hibs fan. There was rumours he had a hun tattoo but that turned out to be nonsense as well.

I'm admitting it might be nonsense. I'm just following up with other points too.
