I imagine Rodgers will want players with EPL experience or players coming from EPL academies.. Owen Beck, McKenna and wouldnt surprise me if he wanted a few players who either need to kick start their careers again, similar to when we signed Scott Sinclair.

I thought McKenna made a lot of sense in January but would go against the policy of 19 - 23 year olds.
Rodgers has spoken a few times about needing to alter that and signing experienced, ready made players. Be interesting to see if he gets what he wants this summer

Didn't even know we had a scouting and recruitment plan. I just thought it was taking a punt on some unknown player for as little as possible and hope it turns out all right - then sell them as soon as a big money bid is made.

That plan worked far better for us, actually scouting guys and thinking how can we make that into something that would be punted for much higher. Van Dijk, Wanyama, Dembele, Frimpong all that category. The loan and then big money for us is the other route - Jota, CCV, Eddy.

I would love to see proper thought put into the players we bring in. After we mined Anges knowledge and targets his first 18 months or so, and I’d label O’Riley as the only one in the mould of scouted and brought in (as 2nd choice btw) we haven’t done anything like that since Rodgers 2nd season. And that is purely down to the damage Lee Congerton done. But 4 years on to when Lenny signed guys who played well against us previously like Barkas, or loaned a Celtic fan with a good pedigree like Duffy. It’s been very rare, and we didn’t use the time we had to recover the scouting department that Ange brought us.

We had more Recruitment and Scouting managers than Scouts going into this season. It looks like after January, we’re finally trying to rectify it, and if you believe the chat around it that was an ultimatum by Rodgers that he won via Desmond. South American scout announced this week etc… but what that’ll look like for this summer is anybodies guess.

Ah that then makes sense. Was weird as a thing if they were using it as a measurement of their quality / discarding others.

He will be out of contract and also homegrown.
We also need experience to compliment the youth.

Mark Cooper could find good players, but Brazilian, Argentinian and Uruguayan players tend to not be cheap - a bit like English players. The changes must affect the boardroom for anything to be helpful.

Would love to be wrong mate. Said it tongue in cheek originally, but this board and experience tells me they won't do the correct and necessary things behind the scenes.

But seems BR has gotten his way and Lawell jnr has been sacrificed. Hopefully DD agreed to a few more changes that the manager wants and we sign some genuine quality this summer.

    Later...with Mark Cooper (youtube.com)

Don't know if it's allowed to be posted. This is an interview with Mark Cooper 4 years ago with Harry Brady. Quite a good listen. Seems a clever guy and this is where he details about how we can get to certain levels.

It's made after a defeat against the huns, so obviously there is a discussion about the game but it gets really good. Harry Brady does my * in but I got through it to listen to Cooper. Seems a clever guy.

The podcast is on for well over an hour and a half and as I said, they go on about the game against the huns before, but if you're looking for his insight into how we progress to be like a Benfica/Porto/Anderlecht/Salzburg, you need to skip to about 32 minutes in, where he begins to talk about everything above.

Interesting read after a quick scan but totally lacks ambition and also tells you just how misleading stats can be!

    I realise that:BR1:..

which makes it even more surprising / lacking ambition / credibility when it's only fantasy football and you can aim higher

Sadly, I'm not sure Celtic actually have a plan

We should be looking at players in our domestic league first. Missed out on several players that could have been brought in cheaply and developed. Foe some reason, misplaced snobbery, desire to find foreign projects, whatever, we have ignored them. We can point to several in recent seasons that would have added more than some of the "gems" brought in. After this then only exceptional players that fit the profile the manager wants to play should be bought, whether they are young, old , experienced or not. This policy is a mixed bag. For every Jota, there are half a dozen failed £1/2m bench warmers that have ate into our budget and meant not developing our young players properly.

Lennon miller is a must. Potentially loan him back for a year… but I haven’t really seen any standout youngsters in our league otherwise who we would use

That pdf has absolutely nothing officially to do with Celtic.

    It's a fan made piece.

What's our recruitment plan is a good question.

We don't have a head of recruitment.
