If we were to sign another home grown player or rules get loosened I think Welsh will be out the door.

Ur right there is room for 1 as 4th choice but absolutely no way we can have them 3rd and 4th next season

 

We have 6 CBs, all with at least 3 years left and only 1 is good enough to be a regular starter. Scales shouldn't have gotten a new deal until 3 were out the door. We aren't getting a new centre back are we?

I have no issue with Welsh having a contract with the club grown rules. The others just confuse me.

Lagerbielke will be gone
Nawrocki is a sicknote and can't be relied on, needs a loan

That would leave 3 centre halves so room for a starter beside Carter-Vickers and another with Welsh just being around as an emergency/homegrown player..

I have gone off Scales and 4 years is a tad excessive but some of the reactions are a bit overboard. As backup with 2, hopefully 3 infront isn't too bad..

Well deserved imo. Easy to forget how good he was earlier in the season, his recent loss of form probably skewing some opinions.

Him and Welsh are absolutely ideal as backups. One more solid defender in the door and we're well set.

 

Does he count as club trained for Europe?

No issues with this, as long as we buy a quality CB too.

 

First half the season he deserved a new deal 100% but a year extension or two year max I think especially after his performances since January. Right now at cb we have CCV, Scales, Nawrocki, Welsh, Lagerbielke and kobiyashi. Kobiyashi and Lagerbielke will be sold most likely which leaves us with CCV, Scales, Nawrocki and Welsh. Scales and welsh should be no more than back up next season as we deffo need better. Nawrocki also right now doesn’t look good enough to be out starting cb alongside CCV. So right now it basically looks like we’ve 1 starting level CB and the rest back ups. We need to invest in quality defenders in the summer

 

No problem with this, we'll deserved. But he shouldn't be first choice going into next season. He still has a role to play here though imo.

 

Like others have said done well coming in initially but has been found wanting loads recently.

He’s not the answer far from it, squad player at best for me.

 

Hes exactly what you want as a 3rd choice/cover. Came in and done great in the champions league etc. Get a proper first choice in just as brendad wants and he's perfect for backup. Cheap aswel for the lawell fans who won't pay £5m for a striker who's scoring at a better rate than kyogo.

 

Nothing tells you the summer window is gonna be another * show like giving a 4 year deal to a * dud that both Aberdeen and Dundee have targeted as a weak link the past 2 games

The bottom 3 need to be gone if Scales is staying as I think 3 of the 6 need to be gone and 2 more brought in.

I'd be fine with him extending if others have gone because I'd be confident we'd sign a couple more. im not confident now.

Deserves it tbh. Came into the team and helped us massively.

I still want him down the pecking order though.

Need another dominating center back beside CCV in the summer.

4's a bit too much for me, was more than fine with a new two year deal, 3 at a push, but 4 is too much.

Wonder if Nawrocki is leaving this summer?

 

Hollyoaks should be scouting on here for new talent given some of the dramatic reactions.
