That's sadly my take on it as well. Johnston was unbelievable in that 6 months.

Both are positions we've not had many great players in over the years. I'm 34 and I don't recall that many excellent full backs. Could maybe argue Boyd and McKinlay but I didn't see them at their best.

Tierney is the real standout in my lifetime. Maybe they are just really difficult positions to fill these days but I feel we could do a lot better than what we have. Especially Taylor.

 

The way this guy backs out of challenges or goes in half hearted like a mouse..

It's an embarrassment..

Cannot wait til that left sides upgraded this summer..

 

Hard to hate him, but...

 

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that talks are ongoing over a new deal for left-back Greg Taylor following the announcement that teammate Liam Scales has signed a contract extension.

Scales, who joined Celtic in August 2021, has been rewarded for a breakthrough season in the Hoops first-team with a new four-year deal until 2028 and Rodgers revealed that Taylor, who is set to enter the final season of his current contract, is next in line to have his future resolved.




I would love to keep Greg here,” he said. “It’s something we have spoken on. It’s obviously with the club and the agent to try and resolve. But in the meantime Greg’s focus is very much on the team.

I really like him as a person, he is a good guy and very hungry and committed and professional. He sacrifices a lot in his life to be a footballer and that’s the kind of people you want here. So, yeah, hopefully something can be resolved on him

Deserves a new contract so hopefully it gets sorted soon.

 

Would be happy for him to stay at the club, and he's more than earned a new contract.

He just needs proper competition for his spot for next season, he's essentially had a free run at it over the last 2 seasons with Bernabei being his only competition.

Was good today, had a great opportunity to shoot from outside the box but tried to be too clever and feed it through to Kyogo

 

He can show up at times....but can get shown up a fair amount and our left does get targeted. Plays better when maeda is in front of him.
No opposed to a new deal but we need to be looking to improve

 

I would much rather have Greg Taylor as a back up left back / pushing for the first spot rather than a bernabei or a bolingoli or whatever other * we might end up with

 

Just simply cannot be our first choice left back next season.

 

He’s a great player to have but we need someone with a bit more physicality and pace at left back, its an area every team targets against us.

Same thing we’ve said last few seasons.

 

Was good yesterday but we all know we need a level up.
