I don’t think he’d have been put forward regardless if he was looking the very best penalty taker ever in training if not for Edersen and City, Rodgers fancies himself a Pep like manager. He’d have been basking in it if it went in. And probably quite rightly, it backfired, not enough for us to lose, and fair * bold decision from him and bold from Hart. Just don’t repeat the mistake if it comes to it in the final…

It’s a penalty, he’s not playing centre mid.

Any player could have taken the penalty and missed. Would you be raging about the decision is CCV took it and missed?

Purely technique doesn’t determine the order of takers in a shootout, never has and never will.

Case in point, Naka far more reliable from outside the box with a wall infront of him than at penalties. Think he missed 2 out of 2 for us, both shoot outs as well I think?

It’s just such a lottery in a high pressure situation.

Hart has the mental fortitude to deal with that, so him taking a penalty is no issue for me.

The fact he missed it and went on to win it for us anyway shows that.

Still not a decision I agree with tbf. But get where you’re coming from. Can’t remember who it was discussing it but one of the podcasts down south, talking about Ederson taking a penalty, they were saying Keepers can be monster penalty takers in training.

It’s something that you can flip round and ask why the manager then doesn’t trust the others mentality, and then looking at AJ and Tomoki in sudden death and how calm and brilliant they penalties were, why so?

It’s honking because it didn’t work, but I’ve seen worse penalties from outfield players for us (looking at you Izzy, looking harder at Evander Sno:56:)

There’s a sliding scale of risk when picking 5 pen takers, he’s at the top end of it. It was a shocking decision and it could have cost us our Final place.

He didn’t even look like a professional footballer running up to hit it, it was * hour.

He was looking that confident and * about playing mind games that much I was thinking he was going to Panenka the * straight into the keeper waiting for it :56:

It’s a decision that can’t be defended, and because we ended up going through thankfully I look at it with amusement. Wouldn’t be that if we didn’t. Because we won doesn’t excuse how bad a call that it is

Disagree mate. If he's shown in training to be one of the top 5 penalty takers in the squad that's good enough for me, regardless of where he plays.

its possible hart put himself foward to show a bit of leadership ,personally i was quite angry at the time but the way our penalty taking has been going of late i wasnt confident going into the shootout no matter who was taking them

Can’t see it happening again if he scores every penalty in training from now to the end of the season regardless haha.

Penalty wasn’t pure horrendous despite it hitting the post, outfield players - infact Aberdeen’s first miss as an example, those type of penalties usually get the label trying to be too accurate.

Wish it went in but man, what a moment it could have been :56:

He did based off practice in training.and said after the game he’d be putting himself forward again regardless.

Either was I, when Idah missed against Hearts this year, last I seen the stats for us it made it more than half our penalties taking this year missed.

Turns out we have more reliable options than I thought. Idah stepping up for his, and just how calm and composed a penalty it was, I was very impressed. He missed his last one here, and in the game he should have put the game out of sight for us, none of that mattered to him stepping up. It’s all I could think about. Then Palma the same, great penalty, all I was thinking and the commentators talking about was him missing two in as many minutes getting a reprieve with a retake.

No fuss, no * about, just a good penalty. There was several like that for me, AJ’s majorly as well, keeper taking a penalty before you as a choice and sudden death, that could weigh on a players mind. His was exceptional. Shouldn’t have been as worried, his mentality is * immense

People are reading too much into it, he was selected based on knowledge that the manager has. None of us can go against that, he'* penalties before and scored them and no one can question his mental fortitude for them, considering missing didn't phase him at all.

In hindsight, him taking it was a mistake, however, if he scored it everyone would be acting differently. The fact that Johnston and Iwata hit such good penalties after him is what makes it more confusing, but we don't really know how comfortable they were, though Iwata looked chill as *.

Took me by surprise so much. No wonder everytime this year a players missed one, we’ve suddenly found a new proper penalty taker :56::56:

CeltsAreHere had the privilege of interviewing Joe Hart on Sunday evening before his special event at a sold-out Kerrydale suite in Celtic Park.
We, along with other fan media, had the unique opportunity to discuss Joe’s career, his tenure at Celtic, and his future plans.

During our conversation, Joe shared an unexpected but cherished memory from his time at Celtic: playing at the Tony Macaroni Stadium. With genuine affection and no trace of irony, Joe reflected, “I can’t get away from Livi away,” smiling as he added, “I do love Livi away. I think for everything that it is — it’s a plastic pitch, it’s a tough game, but the fact there are like four-fifths Celtic fans, the atmosphere is electric. It really just feels special.”

It’s intriguing to think that the goalkeeper, a guy who has won the EPL and saved a penalty save against Ronaldinho once upon a time, holds such warm memories of visiting Livingston with the Hoops.

After our discussion, Joe proceeded to the stage where he continued to reminisce about Livingston away to the captivated audience, even mentioning the occasion when he received a red card there

As Joe approaches retirement at the end of the season, his legacy includes not just the grand stages he’s played on but also the unique stories from places like what SPFL fans affectionately call ‘The Spaghettihad.’ With Celtic’s potential to secure a title and possibly a double this season, Joe’s final chapters are set to be as memorable as the rest of his storied career.

Joe Hart says his story at Celtic may not be finished at the end of the season as he would be open to helping them out in a new role after he hangs up his gloves.

But he says that won't be in a coaching capacity as that path simply 'doesn't do it' for him. Veteran keeper Hart is soaking up the final days of a storied career between the sticks and he had a memorable game for the right and wrong reasons against Aberdeen at the weekend. He infamously stepped up to take the Hoops' fifth spot-kick in the shootout, but hit the post - before saving from Killian Phillips to book a spot in the Scottish Cup final.

Now 37, Hart has already announced he'll retire in the summer and the former Man City and Tottenham keeper admits he's unsure what's coming next. It won't be coaching, but he admits he's already spoken to Brendan Rodgers about lending the experience to the club in another capacity

Speaking at An Evening With Joe Hart at Celtic Park on Sunday, he told fan media: "I've not taken any coaching badges, that was quite a conscious decision. I know that coaching and management is ingrained in a lot of people. But for me, it doesn't necessarily do it for me. I want to help, I want to give back, but there's different ways that I can do it.

"I'll always be available to Celtic if they ever need to lean on me for anything, I've made the manager and the club aware of that. But coaching a specific team? That's not something that I'm looking to do."

Hart only has six games left as a player, but when asked if he intends to go out with a bang, he added: "I'm going to try. I'm really going to leave it all on the line. That's what I've done throughout my career and sometimes it's worked, sometimes it hasn't

I really can't agree with you here, mate.

He hit the post and I've seen plenty of worse penalties. So we're basing everything on a single penalty plus your subjective impression of his run up against the fact that the people who have seen him take dozens of penalties don't, so far, seem to have indicated having any issue with the decision and the fact that Forrest hinted that Hart is quite good at them.

None of that means your interpretation is wrong; it could easily turn out that you are right. What it does mean, however, is that there's enough uncertainty about it that there's really no reason to get annoyed or to call it a shocking decision.

I have the same problem with Palma. I think he's a selfish player and I don't like him. There's reason to doubt my (genuinely held!) interpretation of what he does though. For example, his reaction to Forrest's goal (see video below), which annoyed me a lot because it doesn't fit my narrative.
I certainly haven't changed my mind on Palma (and nor am I asking you to change your about Hart's penalty!); but there's enough reason to doubt my interpretation that I really ought to tone down my criticism of him for now and maybe the same applies to some of the criticism in here (not only from you) of Hart taking that penalty.

I’d say you were a fairly logical guy mate so do you see my point with regards sliding scale of risk and/or the fact he didn’t even look like a professional footballer as he ran to hit the pen?

By the way, having Idah hit one wasn’t much better albeit he is an excellent and proven pen taker. He was clearly injured before and after he hit it and that was another gamble.
