You'd think he was the first keeper to ever take a penalty in a shoot out the way dafties like you are greetin about this. Go and have a wee lie doon if it upsets you that much.

 

You’d think goalkeepers are renowned penalty takers always in the first 5 the way you are going on.

Hardly controversial to say maybe a keeper that missed a pen shouldn’t have took one.

No offence mate but you’re the one getting upset. Calm yourself down.

 

It did feel like the kind of decision you make in a testimonial game.

However its been massively blown out of proportion. If he scores it, we’d all think it’s absolutely class and we wouldn’t even discuss the fact he shouldn’t have taken it. So it’s kind pointless.

He has elite mentality and penalties are more mentality than technique when we are talking about professional footballers, even goalkeepers.

A very weird thing to get annoyed at.

Mentality is imperative for a penalty shoot out. Hence why he takes it.

After Bernardo takes his, the technical quality of what is left goes off a cliff edge. Mentality and bottle becomes even more important.

Presumably Pep agrees when he allowed Ederson to take a penalty for the best team in the world despite having the most technically gifted outfielders.

Odd to be so raging about it.

 

did boruc not score a pen for us ? granted he didnt take the 4th one . i think when thoes two balls were swung into our box yesterday ,hart was the only guy who had a chance of challenging the striker scales had lost both the man both times,i think hart should have come off his line and punched them clear

 

Might be the best penalty you see that as well, sure he said he was actually aiming bottom corner and got as top right as you can get

If we are going to get raging at him hitting a pen we have to place the blame on Rodgers/players and not him.

He has stepped forward with confidence and not one of our other players has backed themselves over him which is more worrying.

what i will say is in that environment as a professional you will often see goalkeepers be some of the best penalty strikers due to repetition. Ederson took one for City vs Madrid and nobody batted an eyelid.

I'd give him the 5th pen in the final again to win it, just to laugh at * get raging about it. If he scored it obvs.

 

It’s a bit mental to suggest Celtic, a professional outfit, decided that Joe Hart should take a penalty for a good laugh. It’s a bit disingenuous.

The Ederson point is relevant. Man City have a plethora of technically gifted outfielders - many are among the best players in the world for their respective positions. Yet their GK is relied upon for a penalty because he is composed and handles the pressure.

Even look at Real Madrid - they had Nacho and Ruddiger take their 4th and 5th penalties. You’d hardly argue they are Real’s most technically gifted players yet they have the mentality which is the most important thing. Same logic follows.

 

Honestly, I’m impressed as * with him for stepping up regardless. The penalty itself though missed wasn’t one that was extremely bad, tried to power it like * into the side netting and it comes off the post.

But, it was Rodgers deciding pre-game the penalty takers based off of training, and that isn’t something that is the same as a pressure situation penalty shootout. AJ’s and then Tomoki’s subsequent sudden death penalties being two of the best we seen, makes it * ridiculous. Fair play to Hart for one putting himself forward, 2 stepping up to take the hardest penalty and 3 not letting it bother him and going on to save one to get us a win. Particularly because before then, he let two he should have saved slip under his body. He was making * sure of it not happening with the one he saved.
