If he'd scored and Bernardo missed we wouldn't be complaining. Yeah doing pens in training is different to the real thing but how many of our players have taken pens outside of training? Idah, Kyogo (who was subbed off), MOR, Palma, Forrest (subbed off), Calmac (subbed off).

    Dreadful logic.

He’s a goalkeeper, he doesn’t hit penalties, he almost never kicks a ball in anger at a set of nets. He’s not even good with the ball at his feet like an Ederson who could genuinely play outfield.

We can laugh it off now because of the outcome but the reality is a ludicrous decision was made based on sentiment and it almost * us. Lesson most definitely should be learnt off the back of that.

6 outfield players let a goalkeeper take a penalty before them. That's mental.

Manager should never have allowed it. * hour.

It's clear hart wanted to take the penalty rather than he had to take it cause no one was putting their hands up. Players miss penalties. Bit of a non story for me

    Agreed.

As much as we can look back and say it didn't matter in the end.
Or if it did cost us, we would all be blasting the decision to *.
Or, if he had scored, we would all be here cheering him on as a cult hero and how much he gets it, that he has the balls to step up and take charge when so many fluff it.

All ifs buts and maybes. little point folk banging on about it.

Inch to the right and that's an unstoppable penalty. He's my hero. Hope he gets another chance when we're 4-0 up against the zombies :56:

I've never understood why you would trust a goalkeeper to hit a penalty over midfielders who train to score goals week in week out. Maybe I'm being simple but goalkeepers surely don't get the practice required to justify taking someone else's spot in hitting a pen. And if I were a midfielder I'd feel embarrassed not to put my hand up ahead of a keeper.

But that aside Hart was one of the few players with pass marks today. Happy for the guy that he redeemed himself.

I don't think penalties are purely about being good at shooting, I think being able to stay calm under pressure is more important. Joe obviously felt he could. In the end people miss penalties, i don't really understand why people are getting so angry about it.

I think it says more about the other players to be honest. It was strange seeing a goalie hit the 5th penalty aye, but it's not crime of the century. Surprised at the reactions to be honest.

Taylor, one of the supposed leaders, was too much of a shitebag to take one. I dare say Iwata and Johnston weren't too keen, and that's why the let a keeper hit one before them.

I don't see much difference between a goalie taking a penalty, or a centre back. Neither of them train to score goals or curl a ball into a target. Yet there wouldn't be outrage if CCV took one.

Same and yes Hart was good today.

If he's taking the 9th or 10th fine. But the 5th is shocking. It also went as expected.

This is my view on it. Hart is a leader in the team. He’s the vice captain. I don’t think he offered to take a penalty, I think he basically put himself forward for it and wasn’t willing to take no for an answer. Probably scored a few belters in training etc.

Maybe some of the other guys should have been more vocal about wanting to step forward but if your vice captain with a personality like Joe Hart is putting himself forward I feel as though it’s a situation where he basically pulled rank.

Lesson learned and we escaped the burn. McGregor or Rodgers should have been making the call on who hits it.

People are upset because at least all of those guys are actual professional footballers. Hart is there because of what he can do with his hands. Everyone else is at Celtic because of what they can do with their feet.

Should already have been won by that point. It's * hour. Sometimes you get another chance, often you don't.

Agreed. I'm more criticising his team mates and the coaching staff than Hart. He was really good today, penalty aside.
