He was coming onto his best form, and just when it happened I was demanding Ralston instead. Then it’s been a major bonus seeing him at his best, but that performance on Sunday (and I’m aware it won’t happen), I’d drop him for that. I’m raging with that.

So you think we should stick with him going forward?

In world football to buy or in the squad? Ones a good point the other if we can’t bring in somebody to improve the position it’s bleak

Not really saying that. Just it's not an easy replacement. He does contribute, and is one of those players who on his day lifts the team.

Yeh, I'd love a Tierney mark 2, but that's a rarity. In years gone by we'd have went and bought the best SPL LB. But not sure there's an upgrade on Taylor there, or since he's been here.

So yes he can be improved but it'll take a competent bit of business in the transfer window. Had some hope for Frame but that's looking everywhere more distant given he can't make the bench.

He had 2 good games and the previous ones were all at best average, but generally below that.

He's not terrible, but really he's not that good either, far too passive for me, discounting the random reckless tackles he makes. Seems to have lost his physicality in defence this year too.

We can definitely bring in better, it's whether we will. One word, Bernabei.

And that was with a manager more competent in player recruitment than the current one.

Weird one for me, he was exceptional last year under Ange and for me I never quite felt his natural role is inside full back, traditional RB seemed more his style. Rodgers playing that I expected a lot more to come from him, weirdly, he plays that role more natural but nowhere near as good.

We could’ve got hickey and Doig purely from the league who would be an upgrade on him right off the bat. I’d certainly hope our business in the window will be competent. And we can definitely find better than Greg Taylor. If we don’t it’s a farce imo. He’s our weakest link and it’s clear we’ve needed an upgrade there for quite some time. Be happy for him to be back up though to a good left back

If we cannot find a left back that can be an improvement on him we are in real trouble. I'm sorry.

He's a decent player but lacks various key attributes you'd want in a full back. For me anyway.

Recruitment being shook up and the rumours of power struggle behind the scenes that got Lawwell’s boy to * along with the other guy, and then rumours of players linked since then, I might be buying in to shadows in pure hope but surely we’ll see a different approach in the summer? Ange’s recruitment was exceptional, but it was fading the longer he was our manager and didn’t have his thumb on the markets he used excellently as his main targets. We also had a massive slice of luck a few times, O’Riley we got because we missed out the main target, CCV was a loan because Jenz was the main target for CB along with Starfelt and we lost out on him, Jota similar albeit the guy we missed out was Mitoma at Brighton who could have been even better but it worked out well. But you get luck with preparation and diligence.

BR’s record first time wasn’t the best though, but by all accounts we had main targets that we couldn’t get, and with Congerton we had no back ups to that. We need to make this count. Idah and Kuhn have made a big difference, in a window we slaughtered they two could be a big reason we win a league or no, both were Rodgers not club guys, so that gives some hope he knows what to do.

We tried with Hickey and failed did we not? Is Doig better?

Regardless it's hopefully this summer we are looking to upgrade. So hopefully we are looking in the right places.

Hickey knocked us back on 3 occasions mate, one for a pro contract when we had him and twice afterwards. He wanted to develop where he knew he can play, and here isn’t a place with a history for young Scottish guys from the SPFL to think that they won’t be left on the bench or the wilderness instead. Fair play he was right, first team at 16 at Hearts and a spell in Italy made him so much better.

Doig, aye maybe, I thought he was useless anytime seeing him tbf but didn’t see a lot. Didn’t think he’d suit us either. Owen Beck in January seemed to be the only guy considered, 7 minutes for Liverpool scuppered that and there was accounts of Rodgers being seething when a journalist told him. Him being the only plan is poor as * as well though. I also don’t think he automatically goes ahead of Taylor, I want a guy coming in levels above, not could be developed into a guy like Beck can. We need the mould of what Ange done on the Right when bringing Jura in. A ready made player, that’s experienced a good age and a high level.

He's a reasonable defender but not particularly versatile is my take. He was much more solid last year. Lost his best ability to own the tackle that he did easily last year.

He's going backwards and I'd be looking to sell him on and replace. Much less risky than replacing Taylor as Ralston is there.

Honestly, I think Doig’s nowhere near a Celtic player. Nobody was crying out for him, then he went to Italy and he’s decent. Big slow more defensive type of LB, tidy on the ball but not much else. Not a Celtic type player.

Wingers have realised don’t get shoulder to shoulder with him, he loves that *. Make him need to use his positioning, and that’s his flaw. Opposite of JJ’s defending, took a while for managers to catch up and adapt to a different RB. JJ you wanted to get shoulder to shoulder to.

Being a second season downgrade on yourself isn't great. Juranovic had the same issue for me in getting forward, but given he could also cover LB he was a far more valuable player.

Plus he also had the Hun game where he stood out and was exceptional. Johnston hasn't come close to that sort of display.

Jura was worse going forward, there was a wee period this season AJ created loads and every single one was a sitter he’d put on a plate. He got a couple in a row, he looked relieved then it’s calmed down mega again. We talked bout JJ and end product loads, I can’t think of anyother person I talked to who realised just how * it was. His final ball fried my brain. Especially because Ralston’s is excellent, and the general opinion was people saying the other way round. My favourite version of JJ was when he just signed, played LB behind Jota. His style was perfect to support him, and nobody expected a cross off his left peg, and he’d make the space for Jota that he never ever needed to do the final ball anyway.

Hopeless today or am I being harsh? Just seemed to not get by anyone and not get any balls in.
