Don’t think anyone is making the case we shouldn’t sign a left back, and when we do it should be a guy who can take his place, it’s making a case that people go overboard in the criticism of him and ignore anything he brings to them and dismiss him as completely useless. Personally I would be delighted with him as a squad guy coming in when needed, like Ralston. Want better, just disagree with a lot of the talk around him.

CL games most of the damage I can remember was on our right side, listed the examples above of them. Same with the Huns. Huns at Parkhead I’ll give tried to, and it didn’t work in the slightest. * Sunday three goals conceded was all built off the right hand side, the 2nd that deflected off him was poor from the right side and us abandoning shape dragged all over the shop and him covering the middle. I think it’d be harsh blaming him but the two big moments otherwise, penalty was gave away from our RB, they equalised from the left winger after the RB didn’t clear the ball.

Bodo-Glint game is the massive outlier he was targeted and got ripped to shreds. Think since then it’s something just been said.

I could be going overboard on the criticism but I don’t think so, I’ve also said before I wouldn’t mind him being back up to a good left back. I’ve also gave him credit when he’s done well like made a nice assist or scored a nice goal wtc. I’ve also said he can be good against teams that sit in a low block and don’t attack. So not completely useless but me personally, it breaks my heart to see someone as a starter for us at left back that struggles to play there against any half decent team that comes to play football and attacks us. Breaks my heart seeing him constantly targetted due to being the weakest link by these teams and constantly struggling against these teams although we don’t play these teams every week. I just want us to progress past starting mediocre players tbh

Your memory might be off, atlethico and lazio constantly targetted our left side. Think feyenoord did too but not sure, also domestically, hearts, killie etc and yeah * Sunday but he was still caught out like * anytime it went over the top or through for simas runs. Right back was poor too and I like AJ but he’s been poor a lot this season. I’d happily see a new RB LB LCB GK in summer. Left back is a bigger problem than rb also and has been all season. Like I said if you want to see which games just go back n watch all the ones we dropped points n lost etc

Lazio were down the middle a lot, can’t remember the name of the playmaker they have in there but think he’s ex-Valencia, but biggest memory from them is Pedro sneaking in at the back post on our right after a CCV * up, a rarity that.

Feyenoord the game we won I’d say were building a lot from that RB moving into the middle and he was excellent, the game we won but again don’t think targeted it was more building from the back into the middle. The away game thought we were in control first half, conceded a daft free kick that wasn’t down to a Taylor being targeted was in the middle and got two sending offs and destroyed from there. Atletico at home, aye I’ll give you that, Griezmann moving from off top deep and to the left, handled it well but they use Griezmann as the main man and they do every game I’d say regardless of who he plays against. The away game, they targeted * everywhere and destroyed us when we went down a man. I couldn’t point to a single targeted area except our goal that game.

Year before in CL, Mudryk, Vini Jr, and Werner on the other side were the guys that done the most damage. * Madrid didn’t care bout that wing at all, Valverde played there and was never on the wing. He was everywhere he needed to be.

The games that aren’t the ‘big teams’ or big games, is why I want another left back. It’s those teams that will put a big man on Taylor and a long ball or a fast guy staying high up that wing, because if we play Taylor the only way that he’s an asset is if we let him play the inside role. We need better, I just disagree he’s useless and targeted every big game. Big games is the ones he’s excelled in more than anything, and the other wings been an issue. There’s also the factor, Maeda largely plays his wing.

Lazio did target him. Pretty sure we got lucky not to concede at one point when he got caught with a ball in behind second half Think it was the boy Anderson who was at West Ham they had wide right.

Fair enough, can’t remember it being particularly threatening either game. 2nd game we were contained as *, and they brought on Immobile when we had to come out to play and that was too much for us down to him. The home game we were barely under any pressure dominant as *, and * it. Cross that came in was from Taylors wing but an early one, higher up than you’d want the LB to be if I remember it right? And from a * up from CCV. Saying that, what was the first we conceded? Completely went out my head, think I’ve buried that game cos * me, it was a sore one.

Can remember thinking Anderson was * at one point though, I thought he’d be a star at West Ham and he’s never done it seeing him play.

Sima rinsed him a few times when he came on.

He was okay but he’s clearly, along with Scales, the weak link in the team.

I was * amazed the game at Parkhead they didn’t play Sima up against him, and that game they were absolutely trying to target a long crossfield pass in behind him the space between him and Scales. Didn’t work at all. If there’s a style of player I don’t want up against him, it’s Sima, big, strong, fast, good on the ball, good movement. I’ll be raging seeing him on the right at Parkhead if they decide to exploit that. Again I’m not arguing he’s amazing, I want better, just think there’s shitetalk used against him

    * goal from a corner that we couldn’t deal with. Was it the Atletico game when Taylor had a 60/40 in his favour and backed off which led to a goal?

Aye Anderson did look really good at one point. Never kicked on.

That rings a bell so will hold my hands up to that one. There was a really annoying goal he backed off rather than went for. We do need better, we all agree first things we need in summer is a GK and LB, if we sign one that’s not good enough to get ahead of him I’ll be raging. But I like him, he’s the type I’d view as a perfect squad player for us.

He’s pointed out as a leader on the pitch for us a * of a lot from players, and a leader in the dressing room. We know exactly what he can bring if we use him in a certain role to get the best out of him, and he’s been a big part for us both under Ange and this season. Yes, get better, but * and useless, does nothing, targeted and always found out rhetoric around him? It’s wrong.

Edit: * goal from corner we couldn’t deal with a should have just assumed if I can’t remember it, * always that

Yeah felipe Anderson then you had luis Alberto drifting both sides and Taylor was lost when he’d go his side, balls over the top are always a killer for us in Europe with him. Molina if that’s his name the athletico rb had acres of space against him with athletico also

To be fair Sima is their best player and is a better winger than anything we have.

After Sunday I’d be adding right back to your list too.

The 2-2 Molina got moved off the wing at halftime, but Llorente ran riot and was terrifying. Quaresma came on other side. I can’t remember who was on what wing, but Llorente came and was running riot.

AJ I really like and after injury this year thought he was getting back to his best, but not the first time he’s sold goals against them. He gets more of a by for some reason, and I don’t want * ganging up on players but Yangs being slaughtered down to his incompetence, the penalty decision he’s getting a by for it because we feel cheated it was gave but his defending for that was terrible, see if he wasn’t already diving he was easily getting the ball. Was poor that. He’s previously stood miles off Kent for him to score, and lost Tavernier at the back post to score. We got one ruled out against us from Morelos, a goal that really we were lucky to get ruled out, he was terrible for. He’s been brilliant at times, he’s very likeable, he’s a leader out there but he needs to up his game or be replaced.

    Replaced.

Said a few months into the season. Hit his ceiling pretty quickly and just not consistent. Disappears in games too and has an unhappy knack of sitting back as opposed to contributing going forward and has been pretty woeful against the hun.

Nice guy, and not terrible but so over hyped.

Who do you think we can bring in that would improve the position?

Taylor isn't perfect but he's a good fit domestically and definitely contributes to the team. Rarely directly responsible for us losing a goal and has had some great attacking contributions over the last 3 years.

Possibly, I can’t remember it sticking out, thought we were brilliant and on top of them the first half in particular. I chanhed my name to Scales after that game because how good he handled Griezman, and they had to change up personnel and formation and tactics coming into the game because we were dominating and on top. 2nd half they done it * loads until we matched the 352 and it got slightly better, yet again didn’t win though.

The away game different story though, Taylor pathetic but not more noticeably pathetic than everycunt else playing. He needs replaced mate, I want a LB in we have one in the squad and we better make it a better one when we do but think it’s overboard the criticism of him.
