No chance. We need another left back but he’s far more competent than the guy literally next to him in defence and Hart at his age. There’s also a few others you could throw into that mix.

He’s not, he’s been singled out and targetted by any half decent team we’ve played. I’d agree scales has been poor last while aswell but even he was constantly bailing Taylor out in big games earlier in the season. The guy is garbage and needs replaced

Also Hart has been much better than Taylor and I agree hart should’ve been upgraded this season too

Everyone always says about him being targeted big games, but the only time I can remember that it worked and he was * in it was Bodo-Glint. CL under Ange it was always said, but we got ripped to shreds down our right side that campaign with Jura. But I’ll mitigate slaughtering him because he was up against Timo Werner as the worst opponent, Mudryk who was unstoppable and off the back of what he was doing got that price tag (Chelsea form makes people forget how unstoppable he was to gain that move and pricetag) and then the other guy was Vini Jr.

This year it was AJ and everybody was concerned that his form under Ange was fleeting and he wasn’t what we thought. Two games against them the one at Parkhead, they did try and target him long crossfield pass in behind him, that never worked at all. And Sunday, penalty they got? AJ, whether you agree with it being a shocker of a penalty he dived in and was scrambling rather than dealing with it better. And the equaliser? * me, can’t begin to explain how much AJ * that. They got the 2nd off a deflection from Taylor I think, on that side of the pitch anyway. But it started from Calmac’s shocker of a pass, and attacking down the right, and leaving the space on the left wide open not down our left side. They put Sima on him who’s the type of player I hate Taylor being against, big strong fast good on the ball with good movement. And he was one on one with him more than once, us having abandoned shape and leaving the space for him to go at him. But can’t remember him beating him or being allowed to attack a dangerous area and not safeguarded away.

LB is a priority along with a new keeper in the summer no doubt, and I want us to be signing one that’s better than Taylor but the rhetoric around him and how ‘poor’ he is, how much a weak link, and how targeted he is. I don’t see it. And I’d say the game against them at Parkhead, when it came down to squeeky * time us under pressure majorly somehow the way that game ended, him Scales and McGregor were what got us through that with a win. Taylor in particular was absolutely cajoling everycunt around him to * stand up and see it out. One point I wouldn’t have been surprised if he uppercutted MJ :56:

He’s underrated and harshly treated by us. His injury earlier this season, everyone stopped the patter around him. It’s been a wee bit away enough from that now that it’s reappeared

I wasn’t bothered reading all that tbh mate so I skipped to last paragraph. Greg Taylor is *. Deffo not underrated but unfortunately our only left back. He’s the weakest link of the starting 11 by far and has been since he joined I think

No one should be sharing this *'s tweets or giving him the attention he so desperately craves. Block and ignore. * irrelevant to the thread too.

Some good comes of it though, it reminds us of that deliciously brutal tackle young Taylor subjected him to.

    * is, imo unfair. Without him we've been * terrible. Can we improve? 100% we can. However, he's far from * as he improves us when he's in the team. Shame he's not over 6ft with a bit more pace, although we'd probably not be able to afford him then. He has limitations but he's what you'd call a top notch back up normally.

    The left sided Ralston.

They shouldn't be allowed to be number one choice unless injuries have occurred.

I like both and see the need for both but a top left back has been at number one (or thereabouts) on everyone's wishlist for the last four or five windows.

I personally think he’s *. He only improves us over another * player in bernabei. I’ve said before he can be good in games when teams sit back n defend for 90 mins because he has time on the ball and doesn’t have to defend or play in his actual position left back. Against any team we’ve faced over the last couple years that are good and attack us he’s * imo. Constantly caught out and constantly targetted. He’s primarily a defender. And when he has to play that role he’s quite quick for Celtic standard. But he can play well like I said against low block teams that sit back, unfortunately we need much better if we want to progress. Be happy to have him play second fiddle to a good left back though

Are there any goals to point to against the biggest teams that he’s been targeted and it’s * us? The one big example is Bodo-Glint and that definitely happened, I genuinely can’t think of anything else but it’s been said since then.

To gain a target think * would need to take him serious first.

Shat it from Scott Brown, ran home to England when he got showed up running his mouth about him for months, decided to go for Taylor now.

Guys utterly haunted by how much a clown he got made out to be on the pitch up here, he’s a clown off it, but he never for a second thought coming up here he’d be a joke. He came up to be a hero thinking he was better than everycunt, scampered away quickly. And has furiously denied he did ever since and he wasn’t a failure, he was better and everyone else wasnt upto his standards so he left. It gets to him so much. Amazing man

So, good for about 90% of the games we play then? :giggle1:

I agree with others that LB is one of the positions we should be looking to upgrade, which would allow Taylor to become more of a squad option who can compete for games. But that situation isn't unique to Taylor, as you could also point to goalkeeper, left CB and both wings where that's also the case.

On Taylor specifically, I see him as being pretty much an ideal squad option. He seems to be a bit of a leader within the group, he's homegrown and experienced when it comes to games vs them. All things that are beneficial.

Not sure about the narrative here. I thought he was good on Sun.

All 3 of the Hun goals derived from awful defensive work down the….right hand side?

Yeah just go back to almost every goal weve conceded up until December this season and you’ll probably see 90% of them coming from our left

He was injured a lot of that time and we were so grateful for his return in that period. But big games he’s been targeted in specifically like you’ve said, what examples are there? The post I made you didn’t read (understandable was going on a bit haha) was going through most I can remember and thinking the opposite generally happening. It’s something that gets said a lot, surely there’s examples of it?

Yeah mate you’ve changed my mind I think we should stick with him. We mostly play * teams so it’s grand, who wants to really beat the teams that attack us and play football? Progress in Europe? No thanks
And yes mate I agree he seems like a leader and I agree we can upgrade on them positions too. Scales has been poor lately, hart was gick start of the season imo but has been really good since Christmas (still needs replaced even if wasn’t retiring) but the weakest link I think in big games is….. lefr back…… I think he’s *. You may not agree but I do. I’d happily have him as back up though to play the odd cup game etc or stand in when a good left back is out

Hearts… any CL games, killie, rangers when they had sims and previous game with mcausland, basically it’s easier to just check the games we’ve dropped points in or lost in cl or cup and just go back and watch the goals and watch them all coming from the left. Not being smart like but rather than name the teams just go back to all the games we’ve conceded that he played in and check most the goals. Great attitude and engine though our Greg ye gotta respect it
